Welcome to the home of the Sam Adams University fantasy hoops team...the Spewing Winos!

We look to dominate our hoops league at some point in the future. This team was taken over from YeahRight, who loaded it with Blue Devils last season. We would have loved to have Avery and Maggette back this year but they had to run off to the NBA for millions of dollars. Ingrates. Oh well, we return a little Duke talent in the form of senior F Shane Battier and junior F/G Chris Carrawell. Also returning was senior C Jamal Magloire from Kentucky.

Well with many holes to fill in our roster, Sam Adams U recieved the first pick in the NCB draft. With this selection, we picked freshman F/C Carlos Boozer. While he may not contribute a ton this season, he will be a future force to be reckoned with in the paint for the Blue Devils. Many people criticized the pick of Boozer over Duke teammate Jason Williams, but the Spewing Winos fortified the guard position with the next three picks in the draft: Casey Jacobsen of Stanford (G/F), Jeff Boschee of Kansas, and Joseph Forte of North Carolina. Forte was an absolute steal in the fourth round, as his MVP award in the Maui Invitational would show, and would help tremendously in our week one matchup vs Bearcat Sean and his squad.

Without further adieu, here is the 1999-2000 Sam Adams University Vomiting Drunks lineup!

Guards
Joe Forte, freshman, UNC
Jeff Boschee, soph, Kansas
Tobias Brinkley, freshman, Southern Miss
Casey Jacobsen, freshman, Stanford (F/G)

Shane Battier, senior, Duke
Travis Watson, freshman, Virginia
Chris Owens, soph, Texas
Andre Williams, freshman, Oklahoma State

Carlos Boozer, freshman, Duke (F/C)

Early in the season, TDA and Sam Adams U worked a trade deal, sending super soph Dahntay Jones and senior Jamal Magloire to Burlington U in exchange for Cal freshman center Nick Vanderlaan and senior guard Eddie House from Arizona State. Vanderlaan is a productive freshman and should only get better with time. Eddie House is a true stud at guard, and scored an amazing 61 points vs. California. We were thrilled to have worked that trade on that day. Thus far in the season, the Spewing Winos are batting .500 which is more than anybody thought possible from this very young team. With the addition of Eddie House alongside the amazing freshman Joe Forte, Sam Adams University is becoming more and more solid.

Carlos Boozer, Duke

Chris Carawell, Duke

Joe Forte, North Carolina

Casey Jacobsen, Stanford

We have a very young team, intentionally built to be a force for the next couple seasons. The players Sam Adams University has drafted will be dominant players for their teams in the upcoming seasons. However some, such as Joe Forte and Casey Jacobsen and Dahntay Jones, are having an immediate impact. Others like Chris Carawell have become the go-to guys for their team over the past couple seasons. Tune in often to see how the Spewing Winos do in their inaugural season of fantasy hoops in the NCB league!

Here is the late-season recap for the Spewing Winos!!
The addition of Arizona State's Eddie House has absolutely lit a fire under Sam Adams University, and has made them a true powerhouse in the league. Eddie House has had a phenomonal season, scoring an UNBELIEVABLE 61 POINTS in one game this year. Sam Adams U really got on a roll late in the season, and finished up 7-4, a close 3rd in the strongest division.

Based on our overall record the Spewing Winos were a #4 seed in the NCB tournament! Not a bad job for the team that won only one game in the 1998-1999 season...our draft picks have really overachieved and have done a great job. We got two players on the all-freshman team: Joe Forte and Travis Watson. And Forte was named Freshman of the Year! Eddie House ended up being named second team All American and first team All Conference. And for the deal that got us Vanderlaan and House (leading to us winning a whole LOT), yours truly was named NCB Coach of the Year :) Thank you for your support!

Unfortunately Sam Adams U was not available for our first round matchup in the NCB tourney vs #5 seed Cronk. We went with our original youthful lineup...Forte, Boozer, Carrawell, Battier and Casey Jacobsen. The game was an all out war! It was a close battle but Cronk was victorious 4-1. He won rebounds easily...but other than that it was very close. Cronk won points by ONE!! 175-174...and blocks by 4, 13-9...and assists by just a couple also. We won steals in a close battle also. unfortunately we are in the consolation game now vs tda...hopefully we can do well in this rivalry week type matchup vs the undefeated regular season #1 team.
