6 + 4 - 5=5.Got
it?) If KANE misses add 1 to KANE's PIN and opp. rolls on level 2
Offense.

The LUNATIC SPASM is a series off back-to-back power bombs, while KANE
flies
around the ring like a .....lunatic! He often gets himself hurt in this
process, making this move hard on both KANE and his opponent.

KANE is from a mining colony on Cetus 4,where he worked as a boy. At the
age
of 17,he was banished from the colony after killing another miner in an
argument. There was not enough evidence to convict him so they just sent
him away.In 2104, he joined the Third Force at the request of Chaos. He
quickly won both the
Interplanetary belt and the IP Tag straps with Blazing Skull (The
Ultimate Assassins!) He now has joined the heroes and is feuding against
Vengeance (bad dude now), Chaos, and Blazing Skull, dominating the
Extreme scene in the process!

A. Thinking Out Loud by Tom Filsinger ([email protected])

I've been pretty busy finishing up CPC 2106 and beginning CLASSICS 2084.
If refuse
to think about two editions at one time (my mind cannot handle it) and
now that
2106 is pretty much finished (there are always some changes), I'm ready
to begin
2084.

As I began writing 2084, I thought about Polarity and what an interesting
team
they were.  It is a possibility that another wrestler from the Pleiades
system
will be a part of 2084.   If not 2084, then maybe in the next few
editions.

I was thinking about a character who has a split personality, being like
both
Salvation and Sin as the same person.  I'm not sure how the card would
work because he would sometimes fight totally fair and other times cheat
like crazy!  I don't like to write cards that are too complicated.  Maybe
he could be like Buck/Genocide, and go back and forth during a match from
good guy to heel.

I have also considered the possibility that such a character could have a
"half-face"
look, kind of like Colossus.  One half of his face would look like a
noble guy like
Salvation and the other half would look like a lunatic like Wolf.

As for names, I like it when the name reflects the concept, especially in
a case like
this.  If he's a character that appears in 2107 or beyond, he could
actually be called
Polarity, though there are other words for opposites that might work,
like Paradox
and Antipode.

Just thinking out loud, gang, and helping support Joe's newsletter.  If
you have any
thoughts about "Paradox," let me know.

B. One night in a Hospital by Warren Fitzpatrick

It was your usual 3H August day.  I was up visiting my mother in the
hospital (she has a prolonged illness) when some nurses at the front desk
sent for us to answer a phone message.  It was my Grandmother, and she
had called to tell us that my Grandpa was admitted into the hospital for
a stroke.  My mother, unable to go herself, sent my wife and I back to
Huntington (since I lived in the same town as my grandparents) to be
there with her parents.
Upon arrival, you could see that my grandfather was in bad shape.
At the
time, it seemed he had suffered a stroke.  As bad as my grandfather was,
my grandma seemed almost worse.  She was tired beyond belief.  You could
see it in her worried countenance, but she was still thinking of staying
the night in the room with grandpa.  I talked her into going home and
getting some rest.  I would stay up the night in the hospital room.  With
that, I sent my wife home to get me two items: my COTG set (bet you was
wondering how the GWF fit in here) and my Bible.  I set out to spend the
whole night awake making sure that my grandfather didn't do anything
dangerous (like try to get up out of bed).
That one night I must have had 10 fight cards at least.  Massif
came into
the night with the GWF gold, but he was engulfed in a feud with Thantos.
The Gladiators and Wolf exchanged blows in countless battles (usually
non-sanctioned matches).  Wolf and Star Warrior fought it out in with the
Gladiators in a finished brawl.  The Young Allies slipped past countless
foes to retain the GWF gold (YES! I said the Young Allies – they always
seemed to pull a victory out of nowhere).  Vanity was slung all around
the ring in his attempts to hold onto Sweet Thing.  All in all, even
though I
was sitting in a hospital chair next to my grandfather, I was in a galaxy
far, far away in the distant future.  Even though infirmity and maybe
death was in the room, I was in a world where people never "pass on" (for
the most part), and if they do, it's only a card.  I wasn't in Cabell
General Hospital; I was in the Ceres system on the planet Nebron.  It
wasn't five o'clock in the morning, it was PRIME TIME.  And it was fun.
That is what
the GWF really is, a chance to sit back and watch innocent things happen
to cards.  A way to dream of a place far away with people doing things
nigh impossible (and in some cases completely preposterous).  It is a
place to dream.
The end of this story happens two days later.  My grandfather did
pass
away.  But don't be sad.  Remember that other thing that my wife brought
me.  It tells me that he is in a galaxy far, far away from the death that
took him.  He is in a place where death and pain and tears are no more.
He wasn't in that funeral home, that was just a shell with the soul in a
place called Heaven.  And he's having fun.  Doing things people consider
impossible and even preposterous.  Living in a place that I can't even
dream of, with a Friend who loved him enough to pay the sacrifice.  He is
in his own mansion, and when I think on it, it makes me happy.   Peace Be
Still.

C. Best Game Sets by Warren Fitzpatrick

This is a critique of what I feel is the best game sets between
2087 and
2090 of the COTG time line.  I will use four criteria in judging these
sets: the art, the booklet, the story, and the wrestlers themselves.  So
sit back, enjoy, and see if you agree with my personal and likely biased
viewpoint.

1. The year is 2087 and for all the awaiting masses, the GWF is
born.  This
set was the foundation of the game we all love to play.  So with that
said,
it is hard to criticize a classic work.  Especially in low of the fact
that
I recently restarted playing COTG from the beginning and had more fun
with
this set than I could remember in a long while of playing the game (I
added
the managers for realism).  The art on this form was a solid beginning to
future glory.  The best drawings was of Wolf (OK, I'm biased there – a
whole lot), Comm. Sam was hands down the best drawing.  Thantos lead the
pack of villains with his drawing (I loved the scar).  Some bad pictures
on
the cards were present as well.  Beastrider seemed to look rather goofy,
although the animal was pretty well done.  Actagon never really looked
quite right to me, but I could never put my finger on why.  Lord Nexus as
well seemed to be missing something.  The guidebook for this installment
was terrific.  Everything was easy to access, including the finishers,
and
allowed for beginners to understand the characters they're promoting.
The
story began everything so it too is hard to criticize.  However, the
concept of Thantos guiding all the villains was a bit far-fetched (and
eventually done away with).  I can see why Tom did that though just for
simplicities sake.  Also, Wolf being friends with Proteus seemed strange
at
best, but again his logic in providing a feud between the Gods and
Gladiators made sense.  It is difficult to pick the best wrestlers for
this
issue.  At the beginning, every character is important just to keep
enough
wrestlers around to put on your cards.  My personal favorites are Massif,
Wolf, Thantos, Krakan, Comrade Terror, and finally Commander Sam.
Overall
rating - A (the A is for original but no plus yet, leave room for
improvement)

2. Finally, after somewhat of a wait, COTG's first expansion set
came out.
I wish I could say that it holds the same grandeur that it's predecessor
does, but it falls way short overall with only a few bright spots.  The
art
for this issue did continue to be steady from the last edition with the
highlights being Bishop Hell and Spike.  The worst pictures were BJ Boxer
(the cape didn't fit in) and the Creeper.  The booklet was a far cry from
its founding parent.  It was dropped to a pamphlet instead of digest
format
that really lacked the depth of the original.  The story continued the
status quo with the exception of the Aethrans feuding with the
Andromedans
(whom we find is Wolf's real home).  The wrestlers also lost a bit with
the
issue.  I never was sold on the Animen.  The Creeper was boring at best.

Luckily, some bright spots existed.  Splatter and Reptillo both developed
into great storylines.  The battle between the Gods was interesting
(although I never cared for either personally – good idea).  The
highlight
of this set was the emergence of two terrific wrestlers: Spike and Bishop
Hell.  The concept was perfect, as was the pictures fitting.  Overall
rating D- (2 great wrestlers out of 12 is a low average)

3. The next expansion turned the tide back to the greatness we
have come to
expect from COTG.  The art still kept it coming with what we had expected
up until then.  Galactic Punisher took the crown for best picture with
Bounty Hunter leading the pack on the "bad" side.  The booklet returned
to
its original grandeur and went alphabetical for very easy access.  The
story made its biggest changes yet.  Managers appeared finally, adding
that
great aspect to the game.  Reynard B. Guile always had my favorite
manager
vote for sheer annoyance.  The Masked Assassins were born to add a new
and
dangerous super team.  The wrestlers added this addition was sparse to
make
room for the new managers.  That makes it easy to pick the best –
Galactic
Punisher and the Bounty Hunter.  Overall Rating – B+ (the managers was a
needed accessory)

4. Invasion 2090 saw many changes to existing wrestlers.  The art
continued
with the ability of past editions but began to show steady improvement.
The most improved and overall best looking was the Gladiators and Death
Masque.  The booklet places characters back in the original format with
their respective teams which is quite easy to utilized and added a much
needed addition – the quote.  This allowed us to truly get "into
character", but you could still see room for improvement in making each
wrestler unique.  The story saw Pulsar grow up and Star Warrior blast off
with the Cosmic Big Bang.  The Gladiators showed up more powerful than
ever
and continued to devastate their opponents.  The Norse Gods teamed with
the
Greek Gods to face the threat of the Galactic Rebels.  The only personal
disappointment was that Pulsar Prime left the Titans and grew up into the
FDF.  How does one grow into a more challenging group?  I was happy to
see
him back home where he belonged after a few expansions.  The wrestlers
were
mostly redone, so it is difficult to pick the best, but I'll go with
Pulsar
Prime and the Gladiators.  Overall rating – B (no +, no -, just a B)
That's all I'm gonna cover for now, let me know what ya think.  By the
way,
the overall average of the first 4 installments of COTG is a "B".

Joe says, "Great job! I hope we hear more from you."

D. THE GWF'S TOP TWENTY BY Jeremy Carlile ([email protected])

Who really is the best in the GWF?   This question has been
debatable
for many years.  Some would go back as far as Omega.  Some would say one
of
his sons, Star Warrior or Alpha Force.  Still others would say Chaos.  I
feel
it is now time to settle the dispute once and for all.
All GWF and CPC wrestlers were given a score, 1 being the lowest, 10
being the highest, in nine different categories: 1) OFFENSE - How well a
wrestler uses his offense; is it sufficient to put away his opponent, and
does it last?  2) DEFENSE - The wrestler's ability to take his opponent's
best shots and still fight back.  3)  POWER - A -4 rating is not as
important
as how he uses his strength.  Can he overpower effectively enough to win?
4)
AGILITY - Ditto.  5) COUNTERS - One's ability to counter wrestle is under
consideration here.  6) PUNISHMENT - Can he take a beating?  No matter
how
good an opponent's offence is, if you do not go down, he cannot win.  7)
EXPERIENCE - Being one of the originals does not help.  Facing first
class
opposition in high risk situations on a regular basis does.  8) STAMINA -
Are
you still going strong after 30 minutes in a specialty match.  If you
have
good stamina you are.  9) RING INTELLIGENCE - Basically, do you wrestle a
smart match?  Each score for each category was added together and divided
by
9 to get the average.
NOTE - This was first done by the man, Myron X. Coleman in March
1990.
All ideas and credit for this go to him.  It appeared in the March 1990
issue of the Club Galactica Super Report.  I recently re-read it and
decided
it should be done again.  After all, that was 14 years ago in GWF time!!!

1. CHAOS - Currently the heavyweight champion in my fed.  He has
dominated
the top of the charts since his arrival, never dropping below number 3.
Scored perfect 10's in 5 categories.  Score - 9.44

2. (tie) Colossus - Colossus has been a very good wrestler in my fed
capturing a few Interplanetary titles along the way.  He has a very solid
offense and an awesome defense.  Score - 9.22

2. (tie) Vengeance - The sickest and quite possibly the most intelligent
wrestler of all time.  His experience in big matches is nearly
unmatchable.  A
great offense that can wear his opponents down.  Score - 9.22

4. (tie)  Pegasus -  Another wrestler that has been at the top of the
charts
for a long time.  His failure to really surpass Chaos may have hurt his
score.  Score - 9.11

4. (tie) Mandrill - A mild surprise, I must admit.  He is a good
wrestler,
and has preformed better since he updated his image.  His ability to use
the
Voltaic Stunner helped his score.  Score - 9.11

4. (tie) Wolf - One of the originals.  Was #2 on Myron's list seven year
ago.
Age takes it's toll, i guess.  Score - 9.11

7. (tie) Matador - An unbelievably successful wrestler.  Held the
Interplanetary title for  god knows how long.  Now that he has his shot
at
Chaos...Score - 9.06

7. (tie) Genocide - I rated him separate from Buck Steele.  Is capable of
big
things in the future.  A great offensive wrestler.  Score - 9.06

7. (tie) Thunder - Has dominated tag team wrestling with Overkill.  Could
be
a singles champion if he wanted.  Score - 9.06

10. Heracles - A great all-around wreslter.  Scored high in all
categories.
Always consistent, always top 10.  Score - 9.0

rounding out the top 20:
Raven - 8.89
Max Shield - 8.83
Mad Jester - 8.83
Terminus - 8.83
Vector One - 8.78 (he's active in my fed)
Nefarus - 8.78
Vigilante - 8.78
Malice - 8.78
Mayhem - 8.78
Mace - 8.72
Dark Justice - 8.72

Well there it is.  If anyone cares to debate, write me.  I'll also
send Myron's original top 20 if requested.  To quote the X-man, "It's so
complete, all you have to do is argue!"

E. What's the Deal?!?!?  (by [email protected])

It's getting very strange on this side of the galaxy.  The GWF
has returned
from a summer hiatus and with it has been some unexpected events. Thantos
returned to the ring to bad mouth Star Warrior, Dreadnaught and others.
Star
Warrior didn't take too kindly to Thantos' challenge of teaming with him
to face Superiority Complex for the tag straps.  Star Warrior, however,
did accept and he should have just stayed at home.  The following week on
The Extreme, Thantos got The GameMasters DQ'd when he refused to stop
beating on Skinhead.  After the bell rang numerous times, Thantos
attacked Prodigy, Morpheus, Omega, and finally, Star Warrior, then his
face broke into a devious smile.  This past Monday, he bloodied Star
Warrior and beat him by DQ.  What happened afterwards was unreal.  I'll
get to that in a minute, first some connections to this whole thing.
Janus and Morpheus didn't see
eye to eye on last week's WarZone.  Last week, also on The WarZone,
Amazonia and Anaxis fought to a double-DQ, leaving the Women's Title
vacant.  Afterwards, they fought each other all over the arena.  Last
Friday, on The Extreme, SuperNova and Thrash tried to win the belt.
Thrash won it with a DQ win, but the real story happened after the match
and at the post-card press conference.  SuperNova lost by DQ when she
refused to stop beating on Thrash.  After the match, a huge brawl between
the two ensued and Omega tried to hold his daughter back.  She took
offense to this and turned around, kicking him low and continuing her
fight with Thrash.  At the press conference, Amazonia put her two cents
in, saying that women don't act like SuperNova just did and SuperNova
brawled out of the building with her.  This past Monday, SuperNova
defeated Amazonia in a grudge match, but as she left the ring, she passed
Star Warrior and her father.  Instead of asking for forgiveness or being
forgiven she severed ties, spitting on them.  Then Thantos made his way
to the ring and convinced SuperNova to join him, standing in his corner.
She accepted and after Thantos got the DQ win, joined in the attack on
her brother.   And who should appear to help beat on Warrior?  Janus.
They slightly injured Star Warrior and afterwards said that they would
reek havoc on the GWF.  But that's just a couple of the strange things
going on.  The Matador of M83 won the Galaxian strap but only held onto
it for 3 days,
losing it to Raven in an outstanding match.  During the match, Mesmer
attacked Raven, but the WAR member finally got the duke and the belt.
Afterwards, Mesmer just stared at Raven.  Raven challenged Mesmer to face
him this past Monday on the WarZone and did beat him, but again, after
the match, Mesmer stared at Raven.  Interesting side note to this match
coming up in a minute, first though, in the press conference following
the card, Mesmer revealed what many had thought.  He was trying to
somehow possess Raven's mind and control him.  His next attempt is Wolf
and Mesmer has vowed to not only win Wolf's I-P Title but also control
his mind.  I'll keep you posted.  The side note came when Dreggs came
down and attacked Raven while the ref's back was turned.  Dreggs is no
longer part of WAR and no longer part of the
New Order.  That occurred when The New Order faced The Mercenaries and
Mace
refused to do any of the work.  Dreggs is now managed by Cassandra and
has an
up-coming title match vs. Raven at the GWF PPV, In Your Face.
Tidbits:  Dynamo wants someone to watch his back.... Cassandra
blinded PowerHouse on Monday by putting her cigarette out in his eye
after he lost to Exo-King... Nefarus is now feuding with Mandrill?!?!?
That's right.  He turned on the
leader of The Colonizers when Mandrill was going to attack Max Shield
last Friday.  Don't get any ideas about a return to the side of the light
for him, though.  He says he's just tired of playing second string to
"the big ape".... And what's gotten into The Draconian Sheik?  Out of
nowhere he jumped Pegasus, this past Monday, stabbing him with a sharp
object during Peggy's match with Heracles.  Pegasus still won.... It's
really heating up to a boil that going to explode at In Your Face, so for
now, this has been a report from this side of the galaxy.

5. New Matches!

A. Explosive Death Match by Dan Schwent ([email protected])

This is a particularly harmful kind of match that originated in Japan in
the late 20th century.  It takes place in an ordinary ring, which has an
explosive charge set somewhere underneath that goes off at random time
during the match.   Sometimes, however, it is set to go off after thirty
maneuvers.

This match is usually fought using Titan Death rules, but can be combined
with other special matches for particularly gruesome encounters.

For our purposes, every time someone must roll on any chart, roll both
dice.  If the result is twelve, the explosive goes off.  If it is below
twelve, the explosive does not go off, and the wrestler rerolls the dice
on
the appropriate chart, but the number needed to trigger an explosion
decreases by 1.  It decreases each time the wrestler fails to trigger the
explosion.  When an explosion finally occurs, roll on the following
chart.

Roll:
2 An explosion rocks the ring.  The wrestler on offense
takes the brunt of the explosion, increasing his PIN rating by 4.
Wrestler on defense rolls
on level three offense.

3-4 An explosion erupts directly in front of the wrestler
on offense,
burning him and sending him tumbling out of the ring.  Wrestler adds 3 to
his pin rating and rolls on Out of the Ring Chart with his ring rating as
C for the rest of the match

5 The wrestler on offense is preparing to give his
opponent a superplex when an explosion occurs, knocking him off of the
turnbuckles and into
the ring, raising his Pin rating by 2.  The opponent can now roll on
level two offense or roll on the deathjump chart, with his opponents
deathjump rating as C for the rest of the match.

6 The wrestler on offense is knocked to his knees by an
explosion
emanating from under the ring, raising his Pin rating by one.  Wrestler
on defense rolls on level two offense.

7 Both wrestlers are hit by the blast, raising each of
their pin rating by 2.  Roll one die to determine who gets to their feet
first. odd - wrestler originally on
offense rolls on level three offense
even - wrestler originally on defense rolls on level three
offense

8 The explosion goes off as the wrestler on defense is
being pummeled by his opponent.  Increase the wrestler on defense's pin
rating by 1.  The
opponent rolls on level 2 offense.

9 The wrestler on defense is in a full nelson when the
explosion occurs, raising his pin rating by 2.  Opponent rolls on level
two offense.

10-11 The wrestler on defense is whipped into the
turnbuckle as the
explosion goes off in the corner, raising his pin rating by 3, lowering
his turnbuckle rating to C for the rest of the match, and leaving him
nearly unconscious in the center of the ring.  Opponent rolls on level
three offense.

12 The wrestler on defense is given a piledriver just as
an explosion
erupts from the ring, increasing his pin rating by 4.  Opponent rolls on

7. Closing Comments

All of these reviews are coming out and I thought it would be a
neat idea to mention a new review. If someone would like to review the
first five issues of NG, I'd be honored. If there are many people who
want to do this, I will pick the best one and print it. If you want, just
send me a letter ranking the first five issues as 1-5 (1-best, 5 worst)
and I will have a tally in the Closing Comments.

I only got 1 entry so the wrestlers either went 1-0.
Round One Results:
Mandrill (1) beat Prodigy (0)
Buck Steele (1) beat Soldier of Fortune (0)
This was a really sad turn out. I am thinking of not using this for the
Fight Card in issue 6. If I don't get at least 5 people who send me the
results to the last fight (Mandrill vs. Buck Steele), then I will cancel
it. Please use the Mandrill from CPC 2105. Thanks.

In other news, here a big event that I'm sure some of you are in from
Dylan Summers:

First round of the Galactic Challenge Tournament. These matches were
supervised by promoters Chris Nelson and Dylan Summers on September 14,
2105.

I am sorry. I promised I would show this, but as I was going to send the
letter, it said that the letter was too big (hey, I'm working off a free
service here!). Anyway, I will not be able to print it.

Good luck to all who entered!

Sincerely,

Joe Jaczewski
