2. Promoter Spotlight
A. Joe Jaczewski

I've been playing GWF for I don't know how many years now (too lazy to
drag
out my first order form) and I've never stopped loving it!  I usually
don't
have to play over the school year because I am so busy.  I play sometimes
on
vacations.  This summer, I deemed it to be "The summer of the computer"
because we finally have a computer that all the games work on.  And I did

play day and night on the computer with friends over the modem.  But even

that got dry and I only play once and a while now.  So I turned to GWF as

soon as I could, and I just couldn't stop!  It's addicting!  Like Tom
said
in Promoter #37, it's not pre-determined; it's all the roll of the dice.

That's what makes it so exciting.
I like to have frequent title change-of-hands and stable changes.  The
storyline is my favorite part to come up with.  Especially naming new
tag-
teams.  But when I start a match, I can't stop until it's over.  I used
to
be the commentators when I rolled the dice and I recorded some cards.
There's just so much to do.  Since it's futuristic, there unlimited
possibilities that you can come up with.
No other game has kept me playing through the years.  Yea, computer games
are
fun, but you beat them and it's on to the next one.  With COTG, new
wrestlers
come into effect and age so it is a continuous game-no end (at least I
hope it
won't end!).  And if you get bored with your fed., start a new one!
Tom even gets everyone involuted through his web site and the GWF
Promoter
(that's why we have to stop CPC from taking over.  They'll drive GWF
loyalists
away).  As long as Tom keeps coming up with sets, people will buy.  And
not
only the loyal ones, but the also the new people who will become hooked
in a
short amount of time.  I would say that Champions of the Galaxy is the
best
game I have ever played.

3. Flashback 2087: A Year In Review by Kenneth West ([email protected])

My GWF fed started with a bang.... Heres the rundown for the year.....
January 2087: This was the month of the first airing of the GWF on
Universal
television. The first broadcast was a 24 man battle royal to crown the
first
GWF champion. The match was long and brutal but Thantos toppled 23 other
men
to claim the Galaxian Title. Later in the month came Thantos's first
title
defense against Lord Nexus at MegaCard. Thantos won the match due to
Comrade
Terror's outside interference to save Thantos. Also in January, A tourny
was
held to crown the GWF Tag Team Champions. At MegaCard 2, Pulsar betrayed
his
tag partner in the tourny, Star Warrior to join The Society of Death.
Finally
at MegaCard 3, Death Knight and Executioner were crowned the First GWF
Tag
Team Champions. Also at the same event Lord Nexus defeated Thantos in a
grueling Hydra Lumberjack Match to win the Glaxian Title.
February: At February's PPV, Thundermania, Exo- King injured Omega's neck
and
Thanos regained the Galaxian Belt from Lord Nexus in a Torture Chamber
Match.
As Feb. went on, the fueds raged on... Mutant joined the Titans.......
March: At Blood Brawl, Death Knight & Executioner lost the tag belts to
Comrade Terror & Thantos..... Exo-King is crowned the first
Interplanetary
Champion, defeats Omega for the belt. In a Torture Chamber match, Star
Warrior
defeats Thantos and gets one up on him in their legendary fued.
April: The first brutal injury takes place..... Death Knight beat Omega
in a
match and was preparing to try to put him out when Star Warrior came his
father's aid and both of them almost broke Death Knights back, putting
him out
of action until early 2088.  At MegaCard 4, Wolf destroyed Exo- King to
capture the Interplanetary Title. Star Warrior got his revenge on Pulsar
for
betraying him... by the end of the match Pulsar was a bloody pulp. 3
weeks
later at MegaCard 5, Krakan defeated Wolf for the I-P belt.
May: This month saw the first GWF King of the Ring Tournament and the
arrival
of a group bent on taking over the GWF.... The URW ( Universal Renegade
Wrestling ), However The URW came in as two factions... a heel group
wanting
to take over led by King Darkstar and a face group " trying " to aid the
GWF
against the URW led by King Lightstar ( King Darkstar's Twin brother ).
Wolf
made it to the finals of the KOTR Tourny to face King Lightstar.... This
was a
controversail match, it was marred by interference by the URW heels....
they
also " attacked " King Lightstar, but in the end Lightstar was victorious
and
was crowned King Of The Ring. Later in the month at a house show at the
Aethra
War Dome, The Gladiators beat Comrade Terror & Executioner ( subbing for
an
injured Thantos ) to win the GWF Tag belts, later that night Wolf beat
Star
Warrior for the Galaxian Belt in a exciting 45 min long seesaw battle
that
became 2087's Match Of The Year.
June: At MegaCard 6, another historic match ( was runner up for the Match
Of
The Year ) took place between The Galaxian Champion Wolf and the
Interplanetary Champion Krakan. This was a long hellish, brutal ladder
match... both men suffered minor injuries, but Krakan truimphed to take
both
singles belts. The GWF and the URW " faces " decided to have a battle
royal
that would decide 5 men for a team to challenge the URW heels in a match
that
would give the URW heels some control over the GWF if the GWF/URW " faces
"
lost. The five men who survived the battle royal were : Lord Nexus, King
Lightstar, Vanity, Krakan, & Massif..... Krakan and Lightstar were chosen
as
the leaders of the united front. They decided on a battle zone
elimination
match to take place in July at Galaxian Starfest, The URW heels accepted
with
evil grins on their faces..........
July: Galaxian Starfest: Before the PPV during the Free for All, The URW
heels
" attacked " King Lightstar, taking him out of the Battlezone match,
making it
a 4 on 5 man encounter in the URW heels favor... In the first bout of the
PPV
Wolf regained the Interplanetary Title in a return Ladder match with
Krakan.
Pulsar got his first ever victory by beating Omega in a Turnbuckle Shock
Match...... Finally in the Battlezone match, both teams fought hard and
were
both down to one man each: Krakan and King Darkstar, both men exhausted
and
wore out, fought valiantly... Krakan had Darkstar down and was ready to
pin
him when all of the sudden King Darkstar came to the ring and whacked
Krakan
from behind with a chair, causing the URW heels to win the match!!!!! It
was
then announced that the URW face vs. URW heel war was just a setup to
trap the
GWF......it worked....... at the end of the month Krakan recieved many
challenges from URW members for the Galaxian Belt....... He beat them
all,
Pulsar jumped ship from the Society of Death to join the URW, Mutant did
the
same betraying the Titans to join the renegade organization..... At a GWF
Turbo broadcast the team of Ravage & Brutar Magus beat the Gladiators to
claim
the GWF Tag belts for the URW.....
August: At the Rigel Royal Rumble, Proteus outlasted 29 other GWF
superstars
by staying in the rumble for 42 mins to win the first ever GWF Royal
Rumble,
by doing this he earned a shot at The Galaxian Title at Decembers Cosmic
Clash......
September to Late November: No title changes except Star Warrior beating
Wolf
for the I-P Title in mid Oct. The GWF suffered numerous attacks from the
URW.... Krakan was looked on as an impromptu leader in the war against
the
URW.....
December: The first week of december Proteus and Krakan were both facing
other
wrestlers as warm up bouts for their Cosmic Clash encounter..... Two
weeks
before Cosmic Clash, The URW attacked and injured both Krakan and
Proteus,
trying to make sure they didnt have their match...... it failed....
Cosmic
Clash 2087: Massif beats URW member Plutonian Raider in a record time of
20
seconds...... The Gladiators w/ Thantos & Comrade Terror humiliated the
URW in
an Aethran Ultimate Escape Match........ I- P Champion Star Warrior beat
URW
member Crimson Thrashmaster to keep the I-P title in the GWF.... In
another
big victory over the URW an injured Killer Queen and Vanity beat URW
members
Brutar Magus & Ravage to bring the GWF Tag Ttiles back to the GWF. .....
And
in the main event... the underdog Proteus won the Galaxian Title in a
thrilling match against Krakan to end Cosmic Clash..... The next night on
GWF
Turbo.... Crimson Thrashmaster with help from all the URW beat Star
Warrior
for the I-P title.... Executioner joined the URW.... At the last event of
2087, MegaCard 8 .... Proteus battled Thantos in his first title defense
by
disqualification...... Wolf beat I-P Champion Crimson Thrashmaster by DQ,
Comrade Terror gained revenge on Executioner in a Cosmic Cage........

4. Fight Card of the Promoter

Supercard 14 by Joe Jaczewski

This kind of goes with my Promoter Spotlight since it is the last
Supercard
I held.  I don't name them or pick arenas for them to be held in.  I just
like to see the fight!

(* means I craeted the wrestler)
Zero Gravity Elmination     Brainstorm threw out Excalibur* - Phantast
t.o. Brainstorm - Terminus t.o. Phantast = The Realists beat Magic!
Four Weapons of Destruction [parenthesis show amount of tokens they had]
Energizer* (9), Genocide [no Buck Steele] (9), Janus (8), Vigilante (4),
and Velar (9) beat Undertaker* (7), The Ancient Egytian* (9), Maleph*
(8),
King Cobra* (8), and Ram (9) = Universal Acheivers beat Fire Venom
Stablecade [< before name is Dark Empire, if nothing, then Top Commandos]
<Mayhem pinned Dark Shade* -  <Mandrill p. Spark* - Rafaki p. <Vendetta -
<Chaos p. The Judge Eato* - Mace p. <Talon - Rafaki p. <Mayhem -
<Mandrill
p. Mace - <Chaos p. Rafaki = Dark Empire beat Top Commandos!
Ultimate Elimination [< before name is Sadistic Fire, if nothing, then
Reckless]     <Dark Justice threw out Blade - Jack of Diamonds t.o. <Dark
Justice - Vertigo* t.o. <Erebus - <Painmaster t.o. Vertigo* - <Painmaster
t.o. Alpha Force - Paragon t.o. <Painmaster - Paragon t.o. <Vector One -
Paragon t.o. < - Draconian Skeik = Reckless beat Sadistic Fire
Brainstorm (commentator): Well, we did great in our Zero Gravity Platform
match!  I love this stuff.  Too bad I'll be going back to commentating
(Blizzard was injured last Supercard in a Four Weapons match by getting
11 tokens after a prolonged time in the ring so Brainstorm became active
until he recovered).  Fire Venom had trouble with the Achievers.  They
had a bad start against Energizer (who has three finishers on level three
offense).  Stablecade was interesting because Dark Empire started in the
lead, then it was tied and it was all down to Rafaki/Mace vs.
Mandrill/Chaos, neither a real tag-team.  All stars were Rafaki and
Mandrill who both pinned two opponents.  Ultimate Elimination was
exciting where Sadistic Fire had three guys left and Reckless only one
and Paragon got his Final Overture on all three of his opponents.

Seinfeld 2000!  The continuation of the popular 20th century
show-Seinfeld!
Takes place in a nursing home where the wacky four mysteriously join
again.
Showing at the traditional time of 9:00 p.m. on Thursdays!
See strange stuff like "What is that blue stuff in my pee bag?" and
Kramer
fighting not to take his pills!
Next episode:  Jerry dates a lady from the nursing home.  Has trouble
"getting it up" so buys Erectforsure (which replaced Viagra) at the
local store.  Jerry takes it, goes to her room, shows her and says,
"I did it!"  She faints.  Later he finds out she died of a heart attack.
Kramer tries to break the record for most cigars smoked in one day.
When he realizes he can't win because he can't inhale far enough, he
just goes for the most cigars smoked at one time.  He wins and gets
in the book of world records, only to be defeated the next
by his day long-lost midget friend who he thought had died in a
circus accident.
Elaine sends out christmas cards (even though it's the middle of
July!) to all the men in the nursing home.  It's the one entitled
"Nip!"  Regardless to say, the men line up at her door, but
surprisingly, she does her patented push and the men fall like
dominos and she laughs wickedly!
And George.  Poor George.  Never had a life, never did.  Jerry
never took off because they couldn't do the show from the prison
and they lost their contract.  So George went on a binge and after
gaining 75 pounds, became a telephone solicitor for Erectforsure.

5. New Matches/Charts!
A. Ways to Lengthen Your Match by Yoki Erdtman
([email protected])

As most of you have probably noticed, with maybe a tad of frustration
after planning a great PPV or supercard, some main events, feud, title or
special grudge matches are just over too quickly. After meticulous
planning
seeing your really cool main event top feud turn out to be a 20 second
match
is a great let-down (in most cases anyway and especially if it happens as
regularly as it has in my own federation lately).
This springs from the fact that most of the top-notch GWF wrestlers
sport very high PIN modifiers on their finisher moves. Usually the best,
most exciting matches on my supercards  turn out to be the midcard
matches
were the wrestlers have rather low PIN rating, but only finishers worth a
0,
double-0, +1 or +2. The guys with finishers rated +4 and above can so
simply
destroy an opponent in less than a minute with some lucky dice chucking
which to me is very disappointing if it happens to be a feud, title or a
special grudge match.
Try these simple (yet pretty cool) solutions to prolonging your
favorite
wrestling experience -- that being the fast and furious action of the
GWF:
PINFALLS: For any match directly involving feuding wrestlers deduct
one
from all the feuding wrestler's PIN ratings. Do the same thing for all
wrestlers participating in any special grudge match. Lastly, let a title
defender deduct another point from their PIN, representing his iron will
in
trying to hang on to his beloved belt. The three modifiers are cumulative
for a total maximum PIN reduction of three for a title match between
feuding
opponents being settled in a special grudge match. This is easily kept
track
of through different colored tokens representing negative PIN and fatigue
respectively.
DISQUALIFICATION: In my GWF version I have also applied a similar
rule
to take care of the (in my opinion) way too many disqualification
results. I
deduct two from every wrestler's DQ rating at the start of the match
(again
this is kept track of by a different color of tokens, and cumulative with
using Massif as the special referee). Then as you are forced to roll for
DQ
you deduct one token each time thereby increasing your chances of being
DQ'ed. This simulating the referee first warning you and then growing
increasingly weary of your flagrant disregard for the rules of the game.
Depending on how token-happy you are or how much record keeping you
want
to do please try one of the following continuations to the DQ rule above:
    1. Each time past the first two times you roll for DQ (when you
removed
a token) add a token (again of yet another color). This means that sooner
or
later that fan-favorite-goody-two-shoes (with a measly 2 in
disqualification
rating) will piss of the referee enough to get DQ'ed just the same. Of
course a guy like Bishop Hell brings with him the reputation of being a
constant cheat and therefore starts out much more likely to be DQ'ed.
Using
the above mentioned system though, he will not have as high a chance as
before and can live up to his tough rep by actually being able to be the
bad-ass he is supposed to be!
    2. Instead of adding yet another (kind of or) color of tokens, use
the
normal fatigue counters to show the wrestler getting more and more
frustrated and have fatigue tokens increase DQ on a 1:1 basis just like
they
affect a wrestlers PIN rating. Simply have the first fatigue counter
canceling one negative DQ token and when you receive a second fatigue
token
your wrestlers DQ is back to normal with further fatigue increasing DQ.
Both work equally well and even work pretty well together as they
both
simulate two different aspects of disqualifications and cheating. The
first
being how the referee's tolerance gets worn down and the second being how
a
wrestler will retort to cheating to save his skin. If you use both try
using
a three token, or higher, negative DQ modifier to start.
TOKENS & COUNTERS: Try red, yellow and green tokens for easy mental
association.
GREEN is of course associated with "Wow I am finally able to use my
car
as more than an expensive piece of furniture!" and should represent
something good such as your lower PIN or DQ rating.
YELLOW being slightly better than red, but still not as well liked as
green could represent your lower DQ or perhaps even your increased DQ as
a
sort of warning to better pay heed to the referee.
RED is the color least well liked if we are sticking with my little
traffic association. Therefore it should of course represent your
fatigue.
There is also the option of using tokens with different faces. You
can
then simply flip the tokens over to represent your fatigue or DQ rating
now
increasing if first at a negative value. This option should only be used
if
the two sides are easily discernable across the playing surface as to
avoid
conflict or confusion.
More commonplace than having red, green and yellow tokens available
is
having some red, white and blue poker chips lying in the top of some
dusty
old closet somewhere. These can be easily adapted to work with my
suggestions above.
Please have fun with my ideas and if you have any suggestions or
input
you would like to share with me in regards to them, please contact me via
e-mail.
Yoki "What should I do with all these tokens!" Erdtman.
(Or the somewhat longer, but according to my close friends more
correct:
Yoki "I better come up with a good reason for keeping all this game-junk
around the house or my wife will kill me" Erdtman.)

6. Closing Comments

I would like to start another contest.  It's to see who is the most liked

wrestler overall.  Just send me a letter with three wrestler's names and
a
1, 2, or 3 before their name.  3 is the most liked, 2 is second liked, 1
is
third liked.  Please don't submit more than once and don't give a
wrestler in
more than one ranking.  This is overall so it doesn't matter which set
you're
on.  It's not the most recent or certain set, it's the person's career as
a
whole.  They can be retired or managing now.  I will add up all the
totals and
post them in Issue 18.
Second Contest I would like to hold is most liked manager.  For this,
please
only send 1 vote.  Do not submit more than once.  I will add the votes
and
show the total in Issue 18.
Please send all your votes in one letter so I don't ga-gillion letters
with
all these different votes.  If everything goes well, I will announce
another
contest for most hated wrestlers and managers.

Sorry about those advertisements.  It's just a little way for me to make
money.
:-)

Sincerely,

Joe Jaczewski
