THE AWAKENING- Hecate lifts the opponent into what appears to be
a
reverse
suplex, but instead of falling back, drops the opponent into a
devastating
inverted suplex.
Hecate's past is a very mysterious one. First appearing on the
CFW's King
of the Galaxy supercard, Hecate's reputation has been both
controversial
and destructive. His only words so far have been "I am
Hecate...I, like
my father, shall rule you. Fear me..."
***note: in my fed, Hecate is the son of Thantos...do with him
what you
will =)*** In his first appearance he cost Chaos the CFW Title by
knocking
him out after the arena's lights went out. Chaos has sworn
vengeance, as
has Pegasus whom Hecate also KO'ed that night. Though Pegasus's
arm was
draped over Chaos for the pinfall victory, he still feels that
Hecate had
no business attacking him. So, although the past and future of
Hecate are
unknown, one thing is for sure- he will be a force to be reckoned
with.

B. FLASHBACK 2087: How Long Will Beast-Rider be riding on
Renegade?
Of the original wrestlers in the first edition of CotG, one of my
favorites has always been the wild and unruly Renegade.
This may come to
a
surprise to some, but Renegade is a in my mind a solid midcarder
that
could
perform at a top level to draw fans from across the galaxy to the
GWF
shows. His drawing is one of the best of this introductory
set, both
because of his physique and his "mean" look and
maniacal style, and the
moves on the back of his card allow for an easy transition from
face to
heel. The only obstacle that holds him back from achieving
higher
success
is his tag team partner, and also the man who controls his
career,
Beast-Rider.
The relationship between these Spacecroppers is somewhat ironic
because
Beast-Rider owns a zoo on his home planet of Neptune, while
Renegade has
been known to snap into wild, "beastly" moods in his
matches.
Beast-Rider
is apparently the only man who can seem to tame Renegade, and I
believe
that this is blocking him from reaching his full capabilities.
Beast-Rider
is without a doubt the weak link of their tag team, and has been
the
cause
for most of the Spacecropper losses. While Beast-Rider
concentrates more
on his extravagant ring introductions than he does on the actual
wrestling,
Renegade has a short temper that can snap whenever he doesn't get
his
way.
Could there already be some heat between them? Maybe there
already is
dissension between this young duo.
I strongly believe that a career change would be very beneficial
for
Renegade because he is a unique character, the kind of character
that the
fans want to see, but is too often kept calm by the Beast-Rider.
Renegade
is only hurting himself by carrying his boss up the ranks of the
GWF, and
he deserves much more than this. While Renegade may not be
a
main-eventer
like Star Warrior or Thantos, he deserves a permanent spot at the
upper
midcard level with the ranks of the Executioner and Commander
Sam. When
will he finally get his head together and decide to ditch his
friend,
Beast-Rider? Only time will tell as the GWF saga continues
to unfold in
the next several years.
**For the record, Cannibal the Headhunter is not quite what I had
in mind
when I wrote this article. I liked Renegade just the way he
was, and
while
the Collector has made some drastic improvements on some of the
other
stars, I don't think Renegade should have changed his
character!**
C. News From Tom by Joe Jaczewski ([email protected])
I've been talking to Tom a lot lately and I thought that I would
copy/paste some of our conversations. All are forwarded
from Tom.

I haven't seen any better.
Right now I'm beginning to actually write the CPC 2107
book. I'm
predicting
that this will be the highest impact edition of all!
Take care and keep in touch,
Tom

Thanks Joe,
It helps to have a copy of your submissions. I printed it
out.
I'm going to put out a double issue this year, so the more
submissions
by promoters the better. I'll hold on to your stuff perhaps
until
that issue.
Some news: the web site is getting a much needed design update.
Expect
it to be unveiled around March 23. I've kept it secret for
now because
I hate talking about something until it's likely to happen.
Very soon I'll have (I hope) a big announcement about a guest at
GalactiCon 9 this summer. When I have a written commitment
I will
post the news at the site.
Take care and thanks,
Tom
Need info. on Galacticon 9? Check out this letter!
3/10
Joe,
There will be more at the website in a week or so and details in
Promoter
36.
I'm really glad to hear you are planning to attend because this
will be
the
biggest one yet! The convention will cost $15 which
includes dinner on
Saturday. Dealer's tables are free and promoters use them
to sell and
trade
their game stuff. Here's the probable schedule:
Friday: Promoters who are in town attend a Jamestown
Jammers baseball
game
together and have dinner together. The Jammers are a minor
league
baseball
team. People begin to hang out and talk.
Saturday: 12-8. Game playing, trading, rap sessions,
picnic. This is
the big
day. In the evening is Saturday Night at the Matches where
Chad Olson
and Tim
Dalton show hard to find wrestling videos. The videos are
usually shown
at a
motel and last from about 9-1 in the evening.
Sunday: 12-4. More tournaments and game
playing. People begin to leave
for
airplanes or their long ride home in the mid afternoon.
This year will be a little different because we will probably
have a
very special guest, who will be officially announced in the next
few
days.
Can't wait to see you...
Tom
I just want to say that I had plans to go to Galacticon this
year, but my brother's wedding was moved from the 25th to the
18th.
Sorry I missed out. I wish I could do both. Hopefully
next year!

SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER by Jon Knapik ([email protected])
The Guantlet with Qualitar
Special guests: The Gladiators of Aethra
Qualitar: "Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Saturday Night
Fever!"
(The crowd goes nuts!!!)
Qualitar: "My guests tonight on The Guantlet need no
introduction! They
are
the headbangers of the CFW! All welcome The Gladiators of
Aethra!"
(The Aethrans glorious anthem blares over the PA system. A momnet
passes
and Wolf breaks through the curtain with Wolf holding an Aethran
flag
high,
waving it vigorously. Thunder and the massive Overkill follow
with their
arms raised. Malice is close behind, his first time in a CFW
arena since
the Gladiators/W.A.R. survivor match, which he lost alonside
Vengeance,
Thunder, and Overkill. Before they make it to the stage, however,
MAYHEM
storms Wolf from behind! He has his CFW Extreme Title in his
hand! Wolf
falls to the ground bleeding! The others just watch. The anthem
plays on
as
Mayhem leads the others to the stage!)
Qualitar: "WHAT THE?!?"
(Mayhem grabs the microphone.)
Mayhem: "You'll be quiet if you enjoy breathing. I
have attacked Wolf
because I AM the leader of Aethra! I won the Nightmare Castle
match, NOT
WOLF! I have officially taken my place as leader, and no one can
stop
me!"
Qualitar: "And what do the others think about this?"
Thunder: "He is our leader. He defeated myself, Overkill,
Malice, and
Wolf
to be so."
Malice: "He is a great warrior and will lead us to victory
over
Apocalypse
Inc. and W.A.R."

invisble.)
Wolf: MAYHEM!!!!
(Wolf opens a door and appears to be in the lockerroom area. A

4. Promoter Spotlight
A. Aaron Chiu ([email protected])
My name is Aaron Chiu and I just started playing Champions of the
Galaxy
at
the beginning of this year. I am currently only on the
second game
edition, and am in no hurry to catch up, because I'm already
having a lot
of fun where I am now (although I've already purchased game sets
through
2095). Before I found an ad for CotG in a PWI magazine, I
played in a
couple different e-feds, and even captured a heavyweight title
for one of
my wrestlers, "Devious" Scott Deville. However, I
immediately liked CotG
better because while the storylines and angles don't always get
as deep
as
in the e-feds, I don't have to put up with other whiny
roleplayers or
stubborn fed-heads. No, instead I get to be the roleplayers
and the
fed-head all in one. (Although I always thought it might be
interesting
to
run a simulated e-fed based on CotG wrestlers. Just an
idea.) I ran my
first card along the lineup suggested at the end of the first
edition
game
booklet, with a few added matches to include every one of my new
wrestlers,
and I soon went on to establish a Heavyweight champ.
Thantos was the
winner that evening, though he had several of his cohorts save
him from
elimination. I use a lot of Tom's storylines, but I keep a
general rule
of
thumb in mind: I do not fit my fed into the storylines, but
rather fit
the
storylines into my fed. For example, the FDF is not
formally a stable,
and
Thantos and Bishop Hell are hated enemies. This rule
usually leaves my
fed
open for thousands of endless possibilities. I, myself,
play an active
role as a heel promoter like a Vince McMahon, I also have my own
set of
arena listings in conjunction with the ones listed by Steve
Sovocool.
When
I play, I look mainly for angles and drama, and try to hold more
of the
action outside of the ring instead of scheduling scores of
pointless
rematches. (Think about it, in both the WWF and WCW, the
most heated
feuds
only have about three matches at most, and having too many
scheduled
matches would take the intensity away as shown in the
Undertaker-Mankind
feud.) The only drawback on this game is the
unpredictability of the
results. Yeah, I know that at times we all re-roll a bad
roll for a
wrestler that we like, but in my attempt to be an unbiased
promoter,
sometimes a wrestler who I'm trying to give a big push instead
plummets
into the rank of a jobber by losing to a far inferior
opponent. Comrade
Terror and Invincible Krakan are two examples of what I mean, as
both
were
originally hot items until they hit these never-ending losing
streaks
that
killed their reputations. Both are out of my fed right now,
though I
plan
to have them resurface at the right time. But for now,
things have never
been hotter in my fed, as I prepare for my first big supercard.

5. Closing Comments
Overall, not a bad issue. But it is very discouraging when
I
create these contests and no one or usually only one or two
people get
involved. I have mentioned new contests in Issues: 3,
6, 8 and the
extra St. Patrick's Day. Two people participated in 3, one
in 6, ZERO
in 8, and one in St. Patrick's Day. Even on my web site I
have only had
one person send in results for Colossus vs. (mine)
Undertaker. No one
sent in the result of Colossus vs. (mine) Devil. I am
getting a scanner
and would like to update it more often with my original
wrestlers. But
then I think why bother if no one is going to send in
results. I love
this game, but it's not worth putting out a magazine if no one is
going
to respond. Tell me what you think. I hardly ever get
mail responding
to my Closing Comments. Heck, last time I asked EVERYONE to
send me
their First and Last name so I could put your real name and your
e-mal
address. Four people sent it in. I wonder who reads
this...
Down, but not out,
Joe Jaczewski
