Dear League Representative,

Eleven years ago, the NCSA (National Collegiate Soccer Association), started as a student run organization that provided collegiate club soccer teams with a premier national tournament. This tournament was a culmination of hard work, determination, and excellence of the teams involved. In the last few years, the interest in the NCSA has dwindled as well as its membership. From an all time high of approximately 140 men and women's teams, the NCSA consists of approximately 50-60 teams. This membership reduction is due to the loss of women's clubs teams in reaction to Title IX and the introduction of the NIRSA (National Intramural Recreational Sports Association) national tournament.

The leadership of the NCSA has also dwindled. In the three years, three regional director's, the tournament director and the president have all resigned. Most of the board of director's has been in their respective positions for three years or more. Young leadership has been non-existent from present players and coaches.

The current status of the NCSA is as follows:

After reviewing the status and the goals of the NCSA, the board of directors has decided to dissolve the NCSA effectively immediately. The board cannot continue to provide the high quality national tournament and organization with the current situation and existing personal responsibilities. The NCSA board of directors recommends communicating with the NIRSA organization about participation in the NIRSA Soccer national tournament. For information on NIRSA, please visit their website at http://www.nirsa.org/nirs16c2.htm .

The NCSA board of directors also recommends continuing operations of the autonomous conference organizations. Since the conferences were set-up mainly independent of the national organization, they should continue to operate. The competing excellence of the league was a direct result of the work done by the league commissioners and regional directors. Many hours were spent setting schedules, refining rules, setting up tournaments, etc. These services should continued to be offered in order to provide an infrastructure for fair and highly competitive style of soccer.

The NCSA wishes everyone the best of luck in their personal and professional endeavors. If you need to contact any of the board, please don't hesitate to call. A contact sheet is attached.

Yours in Soccer,

Keith Abney
NCSA Secretary
NCSA Region VI Director

Dennis Chou
NCSA Chairperson
