This season was Coach Neal Heaton's first with the varsity team. After spending a year with the middle school team and a year with the junior varsity team, Neal stepped up to the varsity with his son Neal Jr. Before his coaching days, Neal spent twelve seasons playing major league baseball pitching with the Indians, Pirates, Expos, and finishing his career with the Yankees. He enjoyed much success over these years, winning a pennant and making to the All-Star game a few times. Neal took over a strong pitching staff this year and led them to a record of 19 wins and 5 losses, a major improvement over last year's 11 and 10 record. Not only does he bring his knowledge to Bellport, but he brings a competitive and professional edge to the Clippers.
