Farmer and His Special Pig
Unknown

One day a farmer, accompanied by his very special three legged pig, goes into town on business. As it is getting late and he is getting very hungry and decides to go to the new restaurant that he had heard so much about. Since he does not want to leave his pig unattended while he is eating his meal, he takes the pig along to the restaurant. Upon entering the restaurant he is greeted by the maitradee who is wearing a tailored tuxedo that just screamed class. The farmer asks for a table and the maitradee, noticing the pig, informs the farmer that animals are not permitted in the restaurant. The farmer who is quite attached to this pig tells the maitradee that his pig is very special and should be granted an exception.

The farmer then proceeds to tell how early one morning the pig saved the farmer and his wife, "My home is equipped with a fire alarm and for some reason was not functioning, and so my wife and I were unaware of the fire. However, my pig, some how was aware of the fire, and broke out of his pen, barreled through the back door to our bedroom, and led us out of the burning house before it collapsed."

Although moved by the story, the maitradee responds, "This is a brave pig; however, I am sorry but there are rules baring animals from the restaurant."

The farmer responds, "That is not the only time this pig has saved me. One day while plowing my fields, the wheel of my tractor rolls into a hole and overturns pinning me underneath. I am out there alone bleeding and when I thought all was lost, my pig again saves me. He breaks out of his pen finds me and burrows under the tractor and lifts it off enough so I can escape and get treatment for my injury. I think you now can see why this pig is so special to me."

Again the maitradee is moved by the story and this time grants the exception. Later, while the farmer is enjoying his meal, the maitradee finds some time to check on the farmer and the pig. Before he steps away from the farmers table he was interested in one more detail about the pig, "Your pig has only three legs; did he loose the leg during the fire rescue or while freeing you from under the tractor?"

"Oh no," the farmer responds, "a pig this special cannot be eaten all at once."
