Teams Heat Up In AFC East. In less than 2 years, the AFC EAST has developed into the most talked about division in the league. Divisions like the NFC CENTRAL and the AFC WEST have plenty of history, but the AFC EAST is no different. Some may say its due to coach Bill Parcells heated depearture from historic New England to the New York Jets, and that may be the reason. But thats not all. In the past it was the Buffalo Bills and their 4 failed Super Bowl attempts. Ironically, Parcells was a part of that, when he was coach of the Giants. The Giants squeaked by the Bills 20-19 to give Parcells one of his two Super Bowl championships. Then it was the Indianapolis Colts, with their Cinderella Story playoff run. Every year the AFC EAST has provided great matchups and competition, not only in the playoffs, but throughout the regular season.
You must also not forget the 'Perfect Season' with the Miami Dolphins in '72. The Dolphins went undefeated throughout the year along with a Super Bowl win. That feat has not been duplicated even to this date. Of course none of the teams in the AFC EAST can compare to the great machups like the Packers and Bears, which is the oldest rivalry in NFL History. They can't compare, not yet anyway. But the Patriots and Jets are as close as they get. Ask any ticketseller for the Patriots or Jets and they'll tell you that the Patriots VS Jets is the hottest ticket in town. Even last year, when tickets first went on sale in Foxboro, tickets to the Jets game sold out in a matter of hours. Players take this particular matchup more important than others. they believe that all eyes are on that game, so it usually seems like a playoff game...a must-win situation. Adding on to this hype is offseason player acquisitions for the Jets. Currently on the Jets roster are 11 former Patriots, and they plan on more. The Rivalry Goes On Cyber-Space... With this future legendary rivalry, its either you're on the Patriots side or Parcells side. As the season heads near, more and more discussions arrise. The internet has been a great key to discussion with fans. Message Boards and Chat rooms are the hottest thing on the
Fans from other teams invade other teams forums and put in their '2 cents'. Sometimes they put up a good point, other times they come out looking like a blabbering bafoon (usually Jets fans.) You must agree that the internet has been a great tool, which it is. It's how you use it is what's important. Team message boards or chat rooms allow you to discuss or share your views about a certain issue. A great message board and a favorite of mine is Jokers Patriots Asylum. Check it out and talk to fellow Patriots fans. Monday Night At A Higher Level... The two most anticipated games of the year are the Jets AT Patriots on October 19 and the Patriots AT Jets on December 27 (for a look at the entire Patriots schedule, click here.) The Decemeber 27th game at Giants Stadium is the last game of the regular season and could also have playoff implications as well. It could be a deciding factor in playoff seeding or who ends up staying home during the playoffs. The Patriots have the upper hand. They are a team on the rise with a rock-solid defense that looks to start from where they left off last year. Competition Higher Than Its Ever Been... The competition in the AFC EAST is the strongest its ever been, which could be the making of some very interesting games. The Colts, after coming
off a disasterous season, drafted Tennessee QB Payton Manning. Manning is
the future of their offense. The Dolphins, after
coming off a 29th ranked running attack, look to prove theycan run the ball. This
is perhaps QB Dan Marino's last year and he has no ring to complete his career.
He had trouble against the Pats all year and it doesn't look any easier this year.
They are motivated though. The Bills acquired
QB Rob Johnson from Jacksonville and Fullback Sam Gash from the Patriots.
Their offense can go nowhere but up. Eventhough Johnson has hardly played, he shows
the skills to be a good QB for the Bills. The Jets are a different
situation. With Parcells, anything is possible. He turned around a 1-15 team into
an almost playoff contender. Still, he's nothing invinsible. He takes risk, but they're
usually jackpots! The Jets will battle for the division title, but will probably
fall to 2nd place. Our Patriots are
a team on the rise. Some Publications have already placed the Patriots in 3rd place
behind the Jets and Dolphins. Thats preposterous! Those analysts and so-called "professionals"
think they know anything, but they're as blind as hard-headed Jets fans! Their biased
views are nothing but nonsense. Research for yourself and make your own analysis!
Our offense is motivated and our defense is on the rise. We'll prove them wrong when
season starts. |
