Patriots Trade CB Jimmy Hitchcock for 1999 Draft Pick.

FOXBORO, Mass., - The Patriots acquired a 1999 third-round draft choice from the Minnesota Vikings in exchange for third-year cornerback Jimmy Hitchcock. By acquiring the additional pick in
1999, the Patriots now own five picks in the first three rounds next year, including two first-round and two third-round choices.

Background Info. - Hitchcock, 27, was originally drafted by the Patriots in the third round of the 1995 NFL draft. In three seasons with the Patriots, he started 20 of 36 games and totaled 120 tackles and four interceptions. Last year, he started 15 games at right corner and accumulated 84 tackles and picked off a pair of passes. The North Carolina product became expendable after the Patriots drafted Syracuse defensive back Tebucky Jones with their second of two first round picks this year. Jones, a college safety, will compete with Steve Israel and Chris Canty for this year’s starting position at right corner.
