Patriots Re-sign TE/LS Mike Bartrum.

FOXBORO, Mass., - The New England Patriots announced the re-signing of unrestricted free agent tight end/long snapper Mike Bartrum.

Bartrum, 27, played in the Patriots' first nine games of the 1997 seson with most of his action coming on special 2654.jpg (2513 bytes)teams. He suffered a fractured forearm in the teams' Nov. 2 loss at Minnesota. He missed the following game at Buffalo and was placed on injured reserve Nov. 10 after undergoing surgery.

The 6-foot-5-inch, 245-pound Marshall product was acquired by the Patriots via a trade with the Green Bay Packers for past considerations on August 25, 1996. Bartrum was orginally signed by Kansas City as a non drafted free agent on May 25, 1993. He was released by the Chiefs on August 30 and re-signed to their practice squad on August 31. After being released by the Chiefs on August 23, 1994, Bartrum was signed by Green Bay on January 20, 1995.
