


Talking with
the Golden Eagle players involved in the print, they all have said how
excited they are to be a part of Southern Miss history and are very happy
to have been asked to sign the prints. Marchant Kenney said, "Southern
Miss was an incredible experience for me and being a part of this print
makes me a part of Southern Miss history, one day I can show this to my
kids and grandkids." Southern Miss Outside Linebackers Coach Tyrone
Nix said, "This print will be great, we have had many great seasons
and great players here at Southern Miss, it's about time we had something
to show the world our football history and tradition."
We will tell you this, we plan to make this print something that every
single Southern Miss fan will absolutely love. As big
Southern Miss fans ourselves, we want to make sure that it will make us
all proud to have one hanging in our homes or offices. Doug is working
hard to get the print released by late July or early August. We are going
to have a bunch of great memories incorporated into this painting and I
have no doubt in my mind you will be very excited when you actually see
the finished product.
WHAT IS THIS PRINT I'VE BE HEARING ABOUT?
It was a season
of accomplishment and honors to remember: back-to-back C-USA Championships,
Top 20 finish, Liberty Bowl Champs, amazing plays from great players, courageous
calls from tough coaches, achievement off the field in scholastics, national
television. We all have our favorite memory. Along the way you were there,
taking pictures, remembering favorite stories, and buying keepsakes.
Now the M-Club, Eagle Club and Vintage House Publishing proudly announce the ultimate remembrance of 1997's magical, memorable and heartfelt season. In another step towards national recognition for the Golden Eagle program, the top college football artist in the nation will commemorate the success and rise of the Southern Miss football program with a limited edition lithograph of the 1997 football season.
Douglas C. Hess's limited edition lithographs have captured once-in-a-lifetime sports memories for some of college sports greatest teams, coaches and seasons, including: Nebraska and Head Coach Tom Osborne, Florida State and Head Coach Bobby Bowden, Alabama and Head Coaches Paul "Bear" Bryant and Gene Stallings, Michigan Heisman Trophy winner Desmond Howard and Head Coach Bo Schembechler, Auburn and Head Coach Terry Bowden.

Signing the print will be the 1997 Conference-USA Coach of the Year,
Head Coach Jeff Bower, along with the heart and soul of the team,
the Eagles emotional team leader, All CUSA 1st Team linebacker Marchant
Kenney. Also signing the print will be All-American, CUSA Player of
the Year, Cornerback Patrick Surtain, Eric Booth (the number
one statistical kick-return man in the nation, who can forget the long
runs against East Carolina and Tennessee?) and 1,000 yard rusher, All
CUSA
1st Team Running back Harold Shaw (If he didn't run around you,
then he ran over
you).
All four players are currently signed with NFL teams for the 1998 season.
Additionally, look for these guys to appear on the print. First team
Academic All-America Jeremy Lindley, showing the nation what great
student athletes Southern Miss produces. Long time coaching great, recently
retired Thamas Coleman and college football's best Defensive Coordinator
