Fort Mercer
History beckons on this route as we travel to National Park, New Jersey. The group will visit the site of Red Bank Battlefield at Fort Mercer. Located on Delaware River northwest of Woodbury.
The Pennsylvania Council of Safety (Revolutionary War) erected Fort Mercer here to guard the river approach to Philadelphia from the British. The Hessians under Count Van Donop attacked in 1777, but were defeated.

We travel the flat backroads of South Jersey. Enjoy the quiet farmlands as we close out summer. Plenty of opportunities for break-aways for those seeking the rush of speed. Others can cruise along at 14 - 16 mph.
