THE OFFICIAL NEWSLETTER OF THE LRPC
“www.geocities.com/lrpc_nra” = The original and first website of the club, notice the underscore between lrpc and nra.
So.. What was it like in the days when this website was the only one for LRPC? Many things have changed some good, some questionable. Use to be the LRPC was a club of the people, everyone was allowed their say in most of the club matters. A member could put forth a motion on relative matters and if seconded by another member, a vote would be called. The members who were present at the ONLY meeting the club had would vote and the result would be enacted. Didn't have to ask permission of a select special "member" if it would be ok to conduct business in the club you paid and supported. You were a member, this was your club, and you could do things if you were willing to put forth an effort. You could be nominated to run for office by any other member. The nomination committee only put forth recommendations to make sure someone was available for the offices. There were many other things that were different. The club had money. We were supposed to be saving it for the purchase of the range. Rarely was it spent unless it was carefully determined if the need was a necessity. Some people thought that was slow and ineffective but we never ran out of money for the services that were necessary or might put the existence of the club in jeopardy. We donated money to the Friends of the NRA dinner/auction showing our unwavering support for the organization that has been at the forefront of the fight to retain our second amendment rights to own and bear firearms. Yes there are other organizations that fight against the gun banners some are statewide or local but the NRA is the one that started the organized effort to make certain an American could purchase, own, possess, and bear firearms for self-defense, to put food on the table(hunting), and as it was determined by our country's forefathers in defense of the freedoms that make us citizens not servants of our country. ...
