July 20, 2000 -- BEARS SIGN WHITE TO THREE-YEAR DEAL

LAKE FOREST, IL - The Chicago Bears signed third-round pick Dez White today to a three-year contract. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The Bears selected White with the seventh pick of the third round (69th overall) in the 2000 Draft. The Georgia Tech product played only three seasons of collegiate football, wrapping up his career ranked second on the school's all-time receiving list with 90 catches for 1,833 yards. His 14 career touchdowns equaled the school record. White started as both a sophomore and junior after serving as Tech's return specialist as a freshman.

July 18, 2000 -- PLATTEVILLE "FAN DAY" SOLD OUT

LAKE FOREST, IL--The Platteville Chamber of Commerce "Fan Day" scheduled for Saturday, July 29, has been sold out. The "Fan Day" is set in conjunction with a Bears practice in Pioneer Stadium on the University of Wisconsin-Platteville campus. A limited number of tickets were sold through the Platteville Chamber of Commerce over the summer. Fans without tickets will not be permitted into the Stadium for the afternoon practice or post-practice activities.

July 18, 2000 -- BEARS AGREE TO TERMS WITH SHANE MATTHEWS

LAKE FOREST, IL--The Chicago Bears agreed to terms with quarterback Shane Matthews this afternoon on a one-year contract. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

July 14, 2000 -- PR DIRECTOR RESIGNS

LAKE FOREST, IL - Chicago Bears Public Relations Director Bryan Harlan resigned today to take a position with Kendrick Communications, a Chicago-based public relations firm. Assistant Public Relations Director Scott Hagel has been promoted to fill the Director's role.

July 10, 2000 -- CHICAGO BEARS OVER-THE-COUNTER TICKET SALES

LAKE FOREST, IL - Tickets to the Chicago Bears' home games will go on sale over-the-counter at Gate One of Soldier Field on Tuesday, July 25, at 10 am. All tickets are $37 apiece and will be sold on a cash-only basis. There is a limit of six tickets per customer per game.

March 6, 2000 -- SHAWN WOODEN AGREES TO THREE-YEAR DEAL WITH BEARS

LAKE FOREST, IL - The Chicago Bears agreed to terms with Miami safety Shawn Wooden on a three-year, $3.6 million contract today. The deal includes a $1 million signing bonus.

February 21, 2000 -- BEARS NAB SPEEDSTER KENNISON FOR FIFTH-ROUND PICK

LAKE FOREST, IL - The Chicago Bears traded their 2000 fifth-round draft pick today to the New Orleans Saints for wide receiver Eddie Kennison. Kennison started all 16 games for the Saints last season and led the team with a career-high 61 catches for 835 yards and four touchdowns. New Orleans acquired Kennison from St. Louis prior to the 1999 season for a second-round pick (41st overall). Over his four-year NFL career, the LSU product has totaled 157 catches for 2,397 yards and 14 touchdowns. The 6-0, 195-pounder also has returned 138 punts for 1,346 yards and three touchdowns over his professional career.

February 17, 2000 -- QB JIM MILLER IS BACK IN BEARS UNIFORM

LAKE FOREST, IL - The Chicago Bears agreed to terms with quarterback Jim Miller today. The two-year, $2 million deal includes a $700,000 signing bonus. In five games this season (three starts), Miller posted career numbers, while leading the Bears to wins at San Diego and Green Bay.

February 13, 2000 -- BEARS SIGN THOMAS SMITH TO FIVE-YEAR DEAL

LAKE FOREST, IL - The Chicago Bears agreed to terms today with Buffalo cornerback Thomas Smith to a five-year, $22.5 million contract. The deal includes a $6.5 million signing bonus. The agreement is the Bears' second signing on the weekend with defensive end Phillip Daniels inking a five-year deal yesterday.

February 12, 2000 -- BEARS SIGN PHILLIP DANIELS TO FIVE-YEAR DEAL

LAKE FOREST, IL - The Chicago Bears today signed Seattle defensive end Phillip Daniels to a five-year, $24 million contract. The deal includes an $8 million signing bonus. Daniels led Seattle with a career-high nine sacks last season in 16 starts at right defensive end. The 6-5, 284-pounder has increased his sack total in each of his four NFL seasons and has been a regular starter since 1997.

February 3, 2000 -- ROBINSON AGREES TO FOUR-YEAR DEAL

LAKE FOREST, IL - Chicago Bears wide receiver Marcus Robinson agreed to a four-year $14.4 million contract today. The pact includes a $5 million signing bonus. Robinson was scheduled to be a restricted free agent this off-season starting February 11.
