Ristic signed a two-year contract with an option year back on September 30, 1996. Nikki first played at age 11 for FC Partizon like countryman, forward Nikki Vignjevic. He would go on to spend time in both the Yugoslavian second and first division.

Prior to signing with the Crunch, Nikki spent four years playing professionally in America with the Tacoma Stars (1988-92). Ristic also spent many years playing for various Belgrade amateur teams, being named as a Serbian All-Star.
