Rob was drafted by the Crunch in 1992 out of Clemson University where he won the NCAA Div I National Championship in 1987, he was traded to Buffalo without making an appearance in a Crunch uniform.

At Buffalo in 1994-95, he quarterbacked the franchise's longest winning streak with five victories from December 9 - December 22. He recorded most wins by a Blizzard goalkeeper with seven.
