SATURDAY New Orleans
Mardi Gras! Wow!  Dominique Dawes got into the spirit with the purchase of a tall purple, yellow and green hat.  Jaycie Phelps followed suit by buying a joker's hat with the same color scheme.  As silly as the girls looked, they did not stand out in the crazy crown this time of year... Lilia Podkipaeva, the 1996 Ukraine individual all-around gold medalist, was on the side of the street dancing and shouting along with the crowds.  We joined in  and had a competition to see who could catch the most beaded necklaces being tossed from the floats.

SUNDAY New Orleans to San Antonio, Texas
We have a new bus!  We thought the last one was awesome, but this one is a shiny jade color and seems even bigger.  People do not believe us when we say that the bus has a kitchen and lounging area, as well as 12 beds with a TV and VCR next to each one... They still keep the men's team on a separate bus, though--there are still rules to follow.

THURSDAY Salt Lake City, Utah
Final show--at Delta Center-- and the most hilarious.  Practical jokes were flying left and right... Gregg Curtic, out gymnast-comedian, got more than he bargained for.  In one routine, where he "accidentally" buries his head in a chalk bowl, we threw him off by pouring in a couple of gallons of milk instead... In another, his standard music was replaced with cartoon tunes.  His imporvisational skills wer certainly tested... Water was being dumped and spat out everywhere; costumes were being sabotaged with glue, glitter, and powder.  Even after the show, I kept laughing so hard that I just couldn't get to sleep.
