Rape charge against Vikings running back dismissed

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- A rape charge against Minnesota Vikings running back Moe Williams has been dismissed.

The charge was dismissed Friday because the alleged victim refused to cooperate with the court.

The Fayette County Attorney's office also said it did not have a case because of what it called technical legal barriers.

Williams, who had pleaded innocent to the charge, was present in Fayette District Court and left quickly after the ruling. Prosecutors also moved to have the charge stricken from his record.

The 21-year-old Lexington woman claimed that Williams raped her April 27 at his residence. A rape charge was filed by the alleged victim three days later.

A report said the woman was examined at the University of Kentucky emergency room for injuries that included contusions on her back.
