Scottie Graham Defects to the Bengals

April 16, 1997

CINCINNATI -- After four years with the Minnesota Vikings, unrestricted free-agent running back Scottie Graham signed a two-year contract with the Cincinnati Bengals.

Graham, 28, appeared in 11 games last year and was limited to 57 carries, his lowest total since recording 14 in two games as a rookie with the New York Jets in 1992. He rushed for 138 yards and added seven catches for 48 yards.

Graham has 363 career carries for 1,268 yards in five years since being drafted in the seventh round of the 1992 draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers. He led the Vikings in 1993 with 488 yards on 118 rushes.

Graham is one of four unrestricted running backs the Vikings faced decisions on this offseason. Leroy Hoard has already re-signed with Minnesota, and Robert Smith signed with the Vikings shortly after Graham's move. A decision is still to be made on Amp Lee.
