Personal: Dave is a well travelled player, and well-known in Britain. After Jim Fuyarchuk moved to London over the summer, Dave was asked to move up to Head Coach, an opportunity that he relished. It will obviously be a hard job to follow the immensely popular "Firetruck", but Dave has shown the potential to be a good coach.
Style: As a player, Dave has lost much of his original speed, and now relies instead on good play-making. He was the third member of the hugely successful Chief-Whis-Ferras line. He hopes not to have to play this season, although now he has a Britiosh passport, he is available to step in should their be any crises. As a coach, he is very much untried. He bench coached occassionally last season, to mixed results, although they included our only win over Ayr. The little we've seen so far suggest that he's built a squad capable of upsets.
Last Season: Last season, Whis was again the calm head on the ice, and a useful assistant to Jim Fuyarchuk. He scored a respectable 14 goals, but it was his leadership qualities which made him of more use. He also continued his coaching apprenticeship under Jim, and was the obvious choice as his replacement.
Career: Dave has played in Britain for several years now, and will be familiar to most British fans. After finishing at Brandon University, he moved to the Billingham Bombers. The next season, he played with Romford, where he teamed up with Rob Stewart. He played his first season in the British top level with Basingstoke Beavers, before dropping down a level again, at Telford, where he again teamed up with Stewart.
