Personal: Matt is probably the most popular player here at Bracknell. This will be his ninth season at the Bees, a feat in itself. when you take into account the fact he has continually returned to the club, despite being alledgedly offered good money to join Sheffield when we were relegated, and after deciding not to return to Canada for the sake of his kid's education, you can understand why he's so immensely popular. Almost certain to be the first Bracknell shirt to be retired. Matt is from Ottawa and was born on the 19th January, 1966.
Style: Matt is a stay-at-home defender, and is normally the last person in front of the goalie. He is consistantly excellent, rarely being caught out of position, and has played for GB several times, including the only times GB made Pool A of the World Championships in the modern era (1994). Indeed, only injury kept him out of last summer's Pool B tournament. On the ice he is a quiet and consumate professional, and he rarely gets involved in fighting, although this doesn't mean that he's a soft touch. He is not afraid to dive in front of a flying puck to save a goal, and he suffered serious injury this way a few years ago.
Last Season: Once again, Matt was brilliant for Bracknell. He only managed a solitary goal (his lowest season's scoring since joining Bracknell), but this probably reflects the increased standard of ISL, and the fact that he was forced to stay back more and more last season. He was almost ever-present last season, missing just one of 63 games.
Career: Matt has played for Bracknell for the past nine years, but before that he played for four years at Lake Superior University, before mving to Moncton in the AHL and then spending two seasons in Finland. Career Stats
