Alfredo Meola - Al

One of the three Italian players brought in at the start of the season, Al is the most frustrating. However, my opinion of him has changed since I wrote the first profile. He is a big player and able to use weight easily. This led me to think he was a goon, but I'm pretty sure now that he was just caught out by the speed of the league. Since shifting to defence, he has become fairly solid, if not spectacular. He seems to have gathered the basic "hit the man, get the puck, ice it" style of play. He has cut down on the number of stupid penalties that he draws. Unfortunately he adds little to make up for this. If he could be made to think about what he does before he does it, he could be the basis of a good checking line. But not at the moment. This is what I wrote last time, and basically I feel I have been proved right.

Al is 6' 2" and weighs 205 lbs. He is from Mahopac, which is near New York. He plays in Europe with an Italian passport, which entitles him to play in any EC country unrestricted.
