BAND INFO

Ro-Tel and the Hot Tomatoes is a unique showband that not only captures the authentic sound of the 50's, 60's and 70's but the look, feel, and fun as well!

If you like to dance, if you like to watch a great show, it you like to party... if you're looking for fun... then you're going to love Ro-Tel and the Hot Tomatoes.

Ro-Tel is a group of five talented and experienced musicians who use a combination of guitar, saxophone, piano, organ, drums, bass, and vocals to recreate the best sounds of early Rock 'N Roll radio.

Not enough?  Wait, there's more: The Hot Tomatoes... three front women decked out in one outrageous costume after another: big hair, shimmy dresses, sequins, and skin-tight leopard pants.

And when the Hot Tomatoes turn the stage into a three-ring circus as they dance, strut, sing, and stomp - you're sure to have as much fun as the law allows!

Put it all together and you've got Ro-Tel and the Hot Tomatoes, a dynamic and exciting showband.  Not exactly a copy band, and not exactly a parody - they have fun with the music and guarantee you will too.

For the past eleven years Ro-Tel and the Hot Tomatoes have entertained crowds at clubs, concerts, and parties from Tulsa to Memphis and from El Paso to New York.

The band has brought their unique "Blast from the Past" experience to the crowd at the 1987 Texas Inaugural Gala, the Grand Openings of the Ramses Exhibit and the Dallas Symphony's Mort Myerson Center, the 75th Anniversary of the Adolphus Hotel, the 1988 and 1989 Byron Nelson Golf Classics and many debutante balls such at the Fiesta de las Seis Banderas.

And the San Antonio Tourist Bureau sent Ro-Tel and the Hot Tomatoes to New York to help attract conventions to their new convention center!

Ro-Tel and the Hot Tomatoes have helped to raise thousands and thousands of dollars playing at fundraisers for: The Heart Association, Cancer Society, Ronald McDonald House, Arthritis Foundation, S.P.C.A., Center for Battered Women, Children's Fund of San Antonio, La Bonheur Children's Hospital of Memphis, Cook Medical of Forth Worth, Dallas Zoo, Fort Worth Zoo, Museum of South Texas, McNay Museum of S.A., Dallas Art Museum, various theaters and many more.

Ro-Tel and the Hot Tomatoes have entertained at conventions and parties for IBM, Motorola, E.D.S., Mobil, Phillips Petroleum, Ace hardware, Perot Systems, Schlumberger, Sakowitz, Texas Restaurant Association, Dallas Morning News, and numerous others.

The band once opened for Roy Orbison and also headlined the Roy Orbison Memorial Concert in Roy's hometown of Wink, Texas.  They've also opened for: The Temptations, Dixie Cups, Chuck Berry, Mitch Ryder, Paul Revere & The Raiders, Rich Little, Nancy Griffith, The Drifters, The Coasters, The Four Tops, The Bobs, and Joe Ely.

MORE!

Ro-Tel and the Hot Tomatoes are beehives for breakfast, leopard-skin for lunch, and satin for supper.  They'd rather walk the poodle than do the dog, but realize the poodle does need a break every once in a while.

MICHAEL CORCORAN

"Ro-Tel and the Hot Tomatoes make you bop till you drop.  They allow no one, no matter the age, to remain in their chair... Watching them perform is like being able to dance at a Broadway musical review."

DETOUR MAGAZINE

...The act would be worth seeing purely for it's off-the-wall showmanship, but it's a musical act, despite all the hilarious melodramatics, that is strong even without the visuals.

Review of CHUCK BERRY SHOW by MICHAEL POINT

Thank the stars for Ro-Tel and the Hot Tomatoes who keep this great land of ours safe for coke dates, slumber parties and leopard print toreador pants...

CAUGHT IN THE ACT: AUSTIN MUSIC by JOHN T. DAVIS

If you're tired of oldies radio, but not tired of the music, you need to check out Ro-Tel and the Hot Tomatoes.  The sweet and sassy singers belt out the best of the girl-group hits of the '50s & '60s with a powerhouse five-piece band behind them, creating a living jukebox sound that brings the music back with verve and vitality.  There's no reason to sit at home and listen to commercials between the tunes when you can catch the real thing in full goldie-oldie splendor.
