Eagles escape Watertown with overtime win
After blowing a late game seven point lead to winless Watertown, the Golden Eagles took control in the overtime period to post their second straight victory, 51-48. After holding Watertown's star Stacey Schooley in check for most of the game, the 5'10 senior carried the Arrows back into the game by scoring nearly all of the Arrows points in the fourth quarter and overtime, many coming with defenders right in her face, to knot the game up at 43 all at the end of regulation. However Aberdeen Central relied on their experience in the final overtime frame to come up with a couple of big plays that made the difference. Senior Steph Rath had a big offensive rebound off of a missed freethrow that gave the Eagles an extra possession, and then made a huge steal in the closing seconds that clinched the win. The Eagles had four girls in double figures scoring, led by Katie Norman with 14. Next action for Aberdeen Central is Tuesday night when they host the Huron Tigers in the Arena.
