AaB have won the national cup two times, but been in the final no less than 6 times

AaB started out as a cricket-club in the year 1866, and then put football on the programme in the early 1880's, easily making the club one of the oldest in Europe. By comparison, Manchester United wasn't founded until 1895.

AaB made one of the best deals ever, when defender Jes Hgh was signed from Brndby in December 1994 for 700.000 kroners, then 6 months later sold on to Turkish club Fenerbahce for 10 million kroners!

AaB have played in the European Cup 5 times:

1966: In the Cupwinners Cup in , AaB played Everton and lost 2-1 on aggregate in the first round.

1970: Also in the Cupwinners Cup, AaB went out in the first round again, this time losing with no less than 9-1 on aggregate to Polish team Gornik Zabrze.

1987: AaB took part in the Cupwinners Cup once again (having lost the Danish cupfinal to AGF, who went on to win the Danish championship as well, thus paving the way for AaB to take part in the European Cup) this time against Jugoslavians Hajduk Split. And once again, AaB went out in the first round, after losing a decisive penalty-shootout in Jugoslavia, following a 1-1 aggregate.

1993: AaB had gained a place in the UEFA Cup, and drew Spanish team Deportivo La Corua in the first round. The first match was played in Aalborg on a stormy and rainy evening, which surely helped AaB on the way to the sensational 1-0 home win. The goal was scored by Sren Thorst, when he hammered a freekick into the net from 30-35 yards. The return-match was a disaster, and AaB were slaughtered 5-0.

1995: AaB was the first Danish team to enter the Champions League. Despite losing the qualification round with 4-1 to Dynamo Kiev, AaB still got into the tournament, because Kiev had tried to bribe a referee with the famous two furcoats and a bag of money. AaB went into group A, which also contained the French champions Nantes, the Portugese champions FC Porto and the Greek champions Panathinaikos. AaB kicked off this tournament with a 2-0 away loss to FC Porto, but then went on to a surprise 2-1 win at home Panathinaikos. Next up was Nantes away, a match that was lost 3-1. Then came Nantes at home, and AaB lost 2-0, despite being cheated for at least one penalty kick in the first minutes of the match. The game to decide AaB's fate in the tournament was the away-game at Panathinaikos, where AaB got off to a terrible start by conceding a goal after only one minute of play. AaB lost the match 2-0, and the 2-2 draw at home to FC Porto in the last game was not enough to keep AaB in the tournament.

AaB went 15 games without a win during the 1997 springseason/1997 fall season. It all came to an end when Vejle where deafeated 3-0 in Aalborg.

AaB managed to come from 2-0 down, and make it 2-2 in less than 2 minutes of stoppage time. The game was against Silkeborg in the autumn 1997, and the stadium-clock was 47 minutes into the second half, before AaB got the first goal. A minute later Steffen Hjer equalised, and the crowd went ballistic.

JEsper Grnkjr set a new Danish transfer-record, when he agreed to a 32 million kroner deal with Dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam. The deal earned AaB 24 million kroner, plus a friendlygame at home to Ajax Amsterdam
