TM: When will you be returning to the UFC?
MH: In December or Febuary
TM: Being one of the smaller fighters in the UFC, have you ever considered going to EFC with their weight catagories?
MH: I like fighting bigger opponents but would be willing to go into a wieght class style tourneyment.
TM: Do you have any long time goals for your fighting career?
MH: A UFC Championship, Bare Knuckle Fighting around the world.
TM: Describe your first experience with the UFC, in #7.
MH: I think that Howard was the favorite, but I believed in my abilities and was confindant that I could beat him. I was surprised when he went to the ground because I expected a stand up fight from him. I was ok with going to the ground because I knew what the outcome would be. I only had 6 days notice when I entered UFC #7 and didn't have the opportunity to study the other fighters. If I had I would have fought Paul differently. I know that I can beat him. I look forward to a re-match.
TM: What is your overall impression of SEG/UFC?
MH: I like them they, give martial artists who have been training for years a place to test their skills and gain recognition.
TM: Were there any serious injuries you suffered in your UFC X match against Don Frye?
MH: I really want to make this clear... I recieved NO injuries beyond minor brusies. I really think the fight should have continued.
TM: If you fought Don Frye again, how would you change your strategy?
MH: I wanted to stay away from his hands but after watching him fight his other opponants I would try to keep him on his feet and box him more.
TM: There has been some controversy as to who you were yelling at in your UFC X match. What kind of dialogue went on between yourself and Don Frye, Big John McCarthy, and your corner?
MH: Here is how it went, Big John told my corner, "Watch your fighter." then he asked me, "Do you want to give up?". At that point Frye started asking me, "Give up. I don't want to hit you any more." I told him, "You'll have to kill me first." Then I started recieving confussing instructions from my corner and told them, to "Shut up." I hope Big John doesn't think I was speaking to him.
TM: Having fought in both, which do you prefer: Tournament format or Single Matches Format?
MH: Single match.
TM: What fighter would you most like to face?
MH: I would like to fight Rickson Gracie, just to get the crap beat out of me...seriously I think it would be a big opportunity and a great experience.
TM: Is there a fighter you dislike in the UFC?
MH: We're all different an that's what makes it interesting. We all have different parts to play depending on our personality I don't dislike someone for that. Some people are just easier to get along with.
TM: How would you approach a match against Royce Gracie?
MH: I think Keith Hackney had the right idea, he just ran out of gas.
TM: What do you think of all the legal problems that NHB events have been facing lately?
MH: The controversy seems to be over the closed fist to the head. What the opponants of NHB events don't realize is that a fist
cuts and causes blood, which looks bad but dosn't do serious internal damage, the fist will break first. An open palm to the
head will do serious internal damage. Their argument is based on a weak stomach, not facts.
