This is my St. Louis Cardinals Home Page. I have been a Cardinal fan since the day I was born. Even
though I live across the country, I have attended many Cardinal games in a combination of National League
parks. This page will honor those great Cardinals of past as well as those who play today in the best
city in baseball. From the great Cards vs. Cubs rivalry, to the legends like Stan The Man & Lou Brock,
and Hall-of-Fame announcer Jack Buck and Harry Carey. Following the Cardinals is always fun during the
dog-days of summer.

The Year of Big Mac - Mark McGwire
|

|
McGwire has already hit the longest HR in Busch Stadium's history a 545-foot mamoth shot May 16th,
vs the Marlins. "It's the best ball I've ever hit," McGwire said. "I don't think I could hit one better
than that." He's on pace to hit 75 HRs this season and despite this he has said very little about his
sucess so far. McGwire was quoted as saying, "When someone gets 50 by September, then its legitimate
to talk about. Right now, I don't think it is." McGwire has added Homerun excitement to a team historically
known producing runs with hit after hit. What a difference one man can make. Hats off to Mark McGwire.

Brian Jordan (RF), Ron Gant (LF), Royce Clayton (SS) are young stars who have provided the Cards with
a strong foundation and a bright future. Jordan has had a breakout year in 1998 in recovering from a
injury that forced him to miss almost all of the 1997 year.
|

|
Ray Lankford (RF) has finally turned into the player Cardinal fans have expected for a long time.
He made his first apperance in an All-Star Game last year, and is on pace for another this year. Todd
Stottlemyre (SP) is the ace of the Cards staff and is returning to his old form. Delino DeShields (2B
- breaking up a potential double play) is an All-Star who has secured a long time trouble spot for the
Cardinals at 2B. His stolen base potential has also provided opposing pitchers with another speedy Cardinal
to look after.

|
The St. Louis Cardinals are a proud and storied franchise who run a sound baseball operation, taking
care of their current players, as well as their past players. Ozzie Smith retired after the 1996 season
and had his number retired on September 26, 1996. Longtime Cardinal Willie McGee is playing his final
MLB days in a St. Louis uniform as he receives standing ovation after standing ovation as the fans honor
all that McGee has done for Cardinal Baseball and the city of St. Louis. These players keep the same
proud tradition started by the likes of Red Schoendienst, Enos Slaughter, Ken Boyer, Dizzy Dean, Lou
Brock, Bob Gibson, and of course Stan Musial.

This link tells the story of Stan Musial. It has his biography, statistics, and records, along with
other insight about the Hall-of-Fame player. If you go to a St. Louis Cardinal game, take time to look
at the statue out front of Busch Stadium with the left-handed Musial in his famous stance. He was a
great baseball player and a great person.
