The Unofficial Homepage of the Indiana Pacers

My favorite NBA team is the Indiana Pacers. The 1999 season was an overall disappointment, even though the Pacers did win the Central Division title. They had a superb showing in the first two playoff series, sweeping both the Milwaukee Bucks and the Philadelphia 76ers, but they lost the Eastern Conference finals to arch-nemesis New York Knicks. New York went on to lose to San Antonio in the finals.
Led by starting veterans Reggie Miller, Rik Smits, Mark Jackson, Dale Davis and Chris Mullin, the Pacers ended the 50-game season with a record of 33-17. The Pacers were the strongest free-throw shooting team in the league, led by overall leader Reggie Miller and last year's leader Chris Mullin. Ironically, their poor free-throw shooting in the New York series may have been a big factor in the loss. The Pacers are also known for their deep and talented bench, with stars such as Jalen Rose, Antonio Davis, Derrick McKey, Sam Perkins and Travis Best. Rookie Al Harrington, second year man Austin Croshere, Fred Hoiberg, Mark Pope and Mate Skelin rounded out the team. The head coach is Larry Bird and the assistants are Rick Carlisle and Dick Harter.
The NBA has posted the 1999-2000 season scedule. Visit NBA.com for more. The Pacers official homepage is located there as well.
In November, 1999 the Pacers will begin playing in a new arena. The Conseco Fieldhouse is to be the new home of our beloved Pacers.
In April, 1999 I had the privilege of attending my first-ever Pacers game. I was visiting Indiana on a college-viewing trip, and my mother and I wound up with some great tickets for a Pacers-Bulls game. Granted the competition was less than extraordinary, but it was still a wonderful experience. Of course, the Pacers prevailed in fine fashion, beating Chicago 87-69. I was also ecstatic to see one of the last games in Market Square Arena.
