TEAMTALK

  U's denied by late goal
A goal from Joey Beauchamp looked like earning the U's all three points until Stoke levelled the
game at 1-1 just 11 minutes from time.
The game was largely devoid of clear-cut chances although the better ones fell the way of the
visitors who could have stolen all three points after falling behind mid-way through the first half.
Oxford scored with their first attack of the opening period on 27 minutes with the aid of a slight
deflection on Joey Beauchamp's shot from the edge of the box.
City though should have levelled matters four minutes later when Kyle Lightbourne got on the end
of Graham Kavanagh's cross, but from six yards out, he contrived to direct his effort the wrong
  side of the upright.
Derek Lilley had a chance early in the second half to give Oxford a two goal advantage but he
failed from 15 yards and he was made to pay 11 minutes from time as Thorne bagged his eight
goal of the season as he headed home Michael Hansson's cross.
After the equaliser, Stoke piled pressure on the Oxford goal, but no-one managed to find a late
  winner.
