GOALS 1-0 MURPHY () - Headed a Beauchamp free kick against the post and it bounced in.
1-1 Cadamarteri () - Beat Lewis to the ball, and his shot deflected off Folland past Arendse.
PERFORMANCE Excellent passing game by makeshift Oxford against a rather abject Everton side.

TEAMTALK

  U's battle for draw
A depleted Oxford valiantly fought to a 1-1 draw against Premiership Everton in the Worthington
Cup after taking the lead early on.
Matt Murphy headed home via a post from Joey Beauchamp's free kick from the right on 21
minutes to give Oxford the lead against Walter Smith's Everton.
Phelan went off for the visitors a minute later with a bad injury following a 50-50 challenge but
this spurred the Blues on to a 29th minute equaliser when Danny Cadamarteri swivelled well to
knock a left foot shot past 'keeper Arendse.
If Lilley had done better with an early effort in the first half then the U's could have faced going to
Goodison with a 2-1 lead next week.
Malcom Shotton will be very pleased that his depleted side, which saw youth team coach Mickey
Lewis in defence, held a quality Everton side to a draw and kept Jeffers and Campbell at bay in
  the final ten minutes.
