Battling draw
Mickey Lewis' United earned a hard fought point in a 0-0 draw with
Chesterfield at Saltergate on Saturday.
United hoped to carry on where they left off in midweek and should
really have claimed maximum points against bottom placed Chesterfield.
The U's shaded the encounter with Matt Murphy and Joey Beauchamp having
the best chances to break the deadlock.
Murphy blazed over the bar after a fine cross from Rob Folland, Beauchamp
then saw his snap shot fly wide. At the other end Paul Lundin made blocks
to deny Junior Agogo and Jonathan Howard.
Beauchamp was again denied in the second half on three occasions as
'keeper Mark Gayle was equal to them.
Steve Anthrobus was subbed late on for Derek Lilley and Peter Fear
replaced McGowan who limped off with what appeared to be a hamstring injury.
