TEAMTALK

  All square at Ninian Park
It finished 1-1 against Cardiff as Matt Murphy's first half goal was cancelled out by a Kevin Nugent
strike early in the second half.
Of the two sides it was Cardiff who looked the more like scoring in the first half, but it was Oxford
who were to go into the half time interval with a one goal advantage.
Jason Bowen went close for the Bluebirds early on, the midfielder's rasping shot flying just over
  Paul Lundin's crossbar.
As the half progressed Cardiff again went close to breaking the deadlock. Josh Low cut in from
the right before unleashing a left foot strike which was blocked by the U's defence.
As for the U's, they offered little as an attacking force in the first forty four minutes, a half chance
their best offering as Matt Murphy was just unable to make contact with the ball after Steve
Anthrobus knocked down a cross from Paul Powell into Murphy's path.
But then, with the interval fast approaching, Oxford took the lead.
Matt Murphy was the man on target, the striker forgetting the frustrations of his previous half
chance as he found the back of the net to give Oxford a one goal advantage at the break.
Moving into the second half and Cardiff made an almost immediate reply to that Oxford goal.
Bluebirds top scorer Kevin Nugent latched onto a long throw from Andy Legg before firing home
  with a left foot strike.
And bouyed by that immediate retort Cardiff pushed forward looking for a potential winner.
And they thought that they had got it when Jason Bowen hit home but the goal was ruled out for
  offside.
Meanwhile, before that Jorn Schwinkendorf had gone close. But despite, at times, intense
pressure on the Oxford goal Cardiff could not find the back of the net a second time.
It finished 1-1 and Oxford stay in 18th spot in the table.
