OXFORD boss Malcolm Shotton blamed his side's defeat on the sending- off of Steve Anthrobus - and accused the Bristol Rovers players of provoking the dismissal.

Anthrobus saw red for an alleged 58th-minute elbow on Dave Pritchard, and Jason Roberts netted two minutes later.

Shotton said: "The reaction of their players contributed to the sending- off, and we felt sorry for ourselves after that. Steve was almost in tears afterwards."
