Unbeaten run over
Oxford's eleven match unbeaten run came to an abrupt end at
Dean Court after Neil McGowan
was sent off and Bournemouth romped to a 4-0 win.
Comical defending led to the first goal but McGowan's inexcusable
actions cost his side dear who
could not recover from two down with only ten men.
Phil Whelan and keeper Paul Lundin got into an almighty mix-up,
leaving John O'Neill's through
ball for one another, and Fletcher nipped in on 21 minutes.
The match swung the home side's way further on 37 minutes when
James Hayter was felled by
Neil McGowan inside the area.
The Oxford man was clearly unhappy with Hayter's part in the
penalty award and picked him up,
elbowing the Cherries striker in the side of the head for his
trouble.
He was sent off and Steve Robinson compounded his misery by
slotting home the spot-kick to
make it 2-0 at the break.
Mark Ovendale was eventually forced into a serious save after
the restart but Matt Murphy was a
subdued force for the visitors.
Claus Jorgensen netted the third when he nodded in from close
range after a corner was only
half-cleared by the demoralised opposition.

Jorgensen's cros
