Wycombe Wanderers equalled
their best ever start to a season when they
beat Oxford stretching
their unbeaten run to six games.
In front of Sky Television
cameras Wycombe turned on the style, although
they failed to add
to Andy Baird's third minute strike until Jermaine
McSporran doubled
their money with nine minutes remaining.
Oxford did come out
a different side in the second half and bossed the game,
grabbing a deserved
lifeline through Paul Tait's low drive in the 85th minute.
Oxford were then given
six minutes injury time to chase an equaliser, but
Wycombe added a third
after a dubious penalty decision.
The penalty had to
be taken twice as first Chris Vinnicombe stepped up and
Hubert Busby saved,
although the linesman judged he moved too early. Steve
Brown decided to step
up and take the second penalty and he made no
mistake.
