TEAMTALK

Oxford 'keeper Richard Knight made four brilliant saves as Luton laid siege to the home side's goal in a goalless encounter at the Manor Ground.
Knight was in top form as he denied the visitors on several occasions with reaction stops from Liam George, Emmerson Boyce and Matthew Taylor, while Boyce missed a golden opportunity to win the game late on. Boyce should have notched the only goal of the game, but he directed a pin-point Taylor cross wide from a free header from just four yards out.
Andy Linighan, 38, made an impressive debut for Oxford and the home side looked a lot more assured at the back than in the 4-3 defeat by Wrexham last week.
United hit the post in the first half through Dean Whitehead and Derek Lilley came close to scoring in the second half when his powerful shot hit the top of the bar.
The result leaves the U's bottom, three points adrift of Luton.

LUTON NEWS

LUTON Town were denied their first win in 13 matches on Tuesday night by a fine goalkeeping display from Oxford’s Richard Knight, writes Dave Flett.
The Hatters were the better side at the Manor Ground, but still could not turn their superiority into an elusive victory and had to settle for a 0-0 draw against the division’s bottom team.
Hatters’ boss Ricky Hill recalled Nathan Abbey in place of £450,000 summer signing Mark Ovendale.
Adam Locke was also dropped from the starting line-up and replaced by youngster Peter Holmes in midfield, with Stuart Fraser returning in defence for injured captain Paul McLaren.
Mark Stein donned the skipper’s armband in McLaren’s absence.
The first-half offered little to contradict both teams’ status as the worst two sides in the division going into this match.
But the Hatters did get two sights of goal before the interval.
Hill handed Friedrich Breiten-felder his Hatters’ debut in the second-half.
