TEAM
Knight
Robertson, Jarman, Richardson, Ford
Omoyinmi, Tait, Murphy, Beauchamp
Lilley, Mike
SUBS Cook (for Omoyinmi, 64)
Fear (for Tait, 78)
Anthrobus, Glass, McGowan (not used)
GOALS 0 - 1 Murray (10) - The unmarked Murray collected Thorpe's through ball, and slipped it past the onrushing Knight.
PERFORMANCE The U's matched a poor Bristol City side, but still looked very shaky in defence (and still lost...)
MAN OF MATCH Dean WHITEHEAD - Shows a lot of promise; it's sad that he has to play in such a low class midfield.
BOOKINGS Dean WHITEHEAD (33) - Foul. Sparked off a brawl, in fact.
Mike FORD (33) - Dissent. Residue of the brawl.
Peter FEAR (90) - Foul.
SENDINGS OFF Bristol City's Darren Dunning was shown the red card - for two bookings - right at the death (90).
ATTENDANCE 5,308 - Saved by the large Bristol contingent. The home terraces were very bare.
REFEREE Michael J Jones (Chester) - Not particularly great, with some mysterious decisions at times.

Oxford rock bottom after City defeat

Oxford fans demonstrated against boss Denis Smith after United slipped to a 1-0 defeat at
home to Bristol City, courtesy of a Scott Murray goal.
Murray won a match of few chances in the battle of the two clubs at the bottom of Division
Two with a good goal in the 10th minute, running onto a pass from Tony Thorpe and
steering his shot in off the far post.
Mickey Bell also went close with a volley as the Robins dominated the early exchanges.
Manny Omoyimni had Oxford's best chance of the half, when he collected a loose ball
inside the penalty area, but his shot on the turn went wide.
The second half started with United attacking down the slope towards their home fans,
and although they began to exert more pressure on the City goal they found it hard to
           break down some staunch defending.
United's best chance of the half came with Manny Omoyimni having a fierce drive well
           saved by Steve Phillips.
City survived the late dismissal of Darren Dunning for a second bookable offence, but
held on to record their second away win of the season and leave Oxford rock bottom of
           Division Two.
