The Cowboy
Let me tell you a story
about someone I know
someone who never takes the glory
someone who doesn't care about show
Every dawn he lifts his head
he doesn't feel like it
but he still gets out of bed
even when he feels that his shell is dead
He has many different ways to earn a livin'
but no matter what he is willing and able
'cause he knows that money isn't givin'
and his family must have food on the table
He has never had an easy life
he travels up and down all the time
an emotional roller coaster that cuts like a knife
this day and age to him is a crime
Even though today we have no cattle drives
or U.S. Marshalls galloping across the country side
he still does what his heart strives
and he finds away to keep the spirit alive
In the ol' west is where his heart is
he is the cowboy and that choice is his
It was his hard work that made the U.S.A
that is because it is the cowboy way
