The main thing that isolates us from our team, is obviously distance. Most games are held in sydney, and it's a bit far to go for a footy game even if they are the sharks.I went to a few games in sydney in 1998, and kept thinking that it would be so much better if i could share the enjoyment, and obviously the cost, with fellow sharkies fans. Then i realised how many sharks fans actually live in canberra, and came to the conclusion that it may just be possible!
I also thought we could extend that to a whole club, people that we can share our love of the sharkies with, and keep each other informed about sharks news! That's how it all came about, and while i have a few interested people, i have put this site together so that we can all have a way of comunicating. It didn't really kick off to well in 1999, with troubles with hiring a bus and getting in contact with people, but i'm hoping 2000 will see TACTICS at most of the home games and a few of the important away ones.
The main function of the club will be the trips up to the games, obviously we won't be able to get to all of the games, but at least most home games and the important away ones. We will probaly hire a mini bus and drive up there and back same day, we may have to limit it to saturday and sunday games only. And apart from sharing the cost of the rental of the minibus and the petrol, there will be no cost for joining the club!
We will also be sending out newsletters to our members, by post for those who are not on the net, or by email for the rest. These newsletters will keep members informed of upcoming games, results, upcoming trips and meetings as well as plenty of sharks news!
In addition to all this, (i sound like an infomercial) we will try and start club meetings at one of the leagues clubs around canberra, just a get together to talk SHARKS!!!
So don't let distance seperate you from those wonderful sharkies, join the club and we can join the rest of their legion of fans, in supporting the boys at their games, and keeping up to date on all the shark info!
