Match details by Andy Homer & Nige Owen
On the morning of 22nd February 1997, the Derby County RamsNet played Leicester
City
Internet at Leicester University's Oadby playing fields. A magnificent display
by the Rams ensured a monumental 9-5 victory, thus avenging a 5-2 defeat
earlier in the season.

After a photograph session for the Leicester Mercury we kicked off. At this time we only had 8 men against their 10 - but we were still unlucky to be held 2-2 when Wheaty and Lornts turned up to even the sides. From this point on the Leicester team were not in it. When Ady and Nige showed up we agreed to give them Ady just to prevent it becoming a walk over. The final score of 9-5 flatters them. It really was a case of not being bothered if they score as we could go up the other end and pop one in at will.

The key men up front for us were Lornts Bruem, Nige Owen and Martin Sugden. These three would have troubled a decent Sunday league outfit let alone the rabble they were faced with.

In fact it was so easy I feel I have to apologise to those on the RamsNet
who made the effort only to find their mob couldn't get 11 players in their
home city. To be honest I enjoyed the defeats against Forest and in the
Summer tournament more as at least we had a good battle - this was like
taking candy from a baby.

Lornts Bruem, our ace Norwegian signing, chipped in with a glorious four
goal haul, Andy Homer helped himself to a hat-trick whilst co-striker Nige
Owen bagged a brace.

As the RamsNetters ripped L******r's defence to shreds throughout the second
half, Matt Goodwin tried a few blasts from distance.

If only Derby County FC could match the RamsNet players' performance in
the afternoon....
