I rowed in the town bumps this summer (1995). I rowed for the 99s but due to the slight delay in organising boats (ie we had about a week before the bumps to practise, and rowed in the race with a novice cox who we hadn't practised going round corners with) I ended up stroking their 5th boat. This pictures thankfully was taken in the middle of the stroke, so all are blades are in the water. Otherwise I think the impression of a very long spider went down quite well...
