                                    Colorado Springs Joins WCHL
                  
                                Colorado Gold Kings To Begin Play in
                                              1998-99
                  
                                                     

                            Colorado Springs, Colorado, Feb. 18 - At a
                            press conference today, the Colorado Gold
                            Kings, based in Colorado Springs, were
                            officially introduced as the newest member
                            of the West Coast Hockey League. The Gold
                            Kings, formerly of Fairbanks, Alaska, will
                            be relocating to Colorado Springs and will
                            begin play at the recently completed World
                            Arena in October of 1998.
                  
                            "The addition of Colorado Springs is
                            another exciting step forward for the West
                            Coast Hockey League," said WCHL President
                            Michael G. McCall. "Colorado Springs is an
                            outstanding market with a great hockey
                            history, and the new World Arena is one of
                            the top facilities in the entire country."

                            "There's such a tremendous hockey history
                            in Colorado Springs," said Gold Kings
                            President/CEO John Rosie of the decision to
                            relocate the team. "USA Hockey has its
                            headquarters here, and Colorado College has
                            certainly distinguished itself as a
                            national power. Having been associated with
                            USA Hockey since the early 80's, I've
                            watched Colorado Springs grow and develop
                            into a first-class city. The Gold Kings are
                            honored to have been chosen by the World
                            Arena to bring professional hockey to this
                            community."

                            The Gold Kings have a long history of
                            competitive hockey dating back to their
                            amateur beginnings in 1975. Originally
                            located in Fairbanks, Alaska, the team
                            gained national and international
                            prominence by hosting and winning numerous
                            tournaments against top teams from Canada
                            and Europe. After claiming their fifth U.S.
                            National Championship in 1995, the Gold
                            Kings became a founding member of the WCHL.
                            They advanced to the 1996 WCHL playoffs and
                            held a 2-0 opening series lead before
                            falling to the eventual champion San Diego
                            Gulls.

                            The WCHL now features 10 clubs spanning
                            seven states and three time zones.
