Surin wins twice at Zagreb

ZAGREB, Croatia (CP) -- Bruny Surin of Montreal swept both the 100- and 200-metre events at the 
IAAF Permit track meet in Zagreb on Monday. 
                    
Surin, who also captured the 100 at the Canadian championships two weeks ago, failed to finish
under the 10-second mark but nonetheless broke the meeting record with a time of 10.08 seconds in
the 100. Jason Gardener of Britain followed in 10.10 seconds while American Dennis Mitchell came
in third with 10.14. 
                    
Surin took the 200 in a course record of 20.29 seconds. Tony McCall of the United States was 
runner-up in 20.37 seconds while Ukranian Sergey Osovic took third with 20.48.
