Decoction
A decoction is herbs that have been simmered in water.

Electuary
When powders are mixed with syrup, honey, brows sugar or glycerine to produce a more pleasant taste, or to make them easier to use internally

Extracts
Extracts are solid substances resulting from the evaporation of the solution of vegatble principals

Fomentations
A fomentation is a strong herbal tea in which a clean cloth is dipped. The cloth can be filled with herbs. The cloth is then applied to the affected area.

Infusions
This is the origin of the idea of Witches Potion. It is a process of soaking herbs in water (hot infusion boiling water - Cold infusion - Cold water /milk)

Oils
Aromatic oils and rectified alcohole can be combined. The oils seep into the alcohole to produce an essence. Oils may be captures by evaporation from flower petals. Vegetable, fruit and nutoils can be used as a medium for seeping aromatic plants to extract volatile oils. Aromatic oils can also be steeped in alcohole to extract essense

Syrups
Medicinal syrups are formed when sugar is incorporated in vegetable infusions, decoctions, expressed juices, fermented liquors, or simple water solutions.

Teas
To make a tea, boil one pint of water and add one ounce of dried herb tops (leaves, flowers, stems) seep 3-5 mins

Tincture
Tinctures are solutions of medicinal susbstances in alcohole or diluted alcohole

Non-Alcoholic Tincture
Alcohole is a near perfect preservative of plant attributes if for some reson you wish to evaporate the alcohole, add the tinture dose to a cup of water 1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon of boiling water.

Ointment
An ointment is a soothing, healing, slightly oily or fatty substance into which the essence of a healing plant has been dissolved.

Poultices
A poultice is a raw or mashed herb applied directly to the body, or encased in a clean cloth and then applied to the body (or applied directly wet to the body)

Vinegars
Herbs that are soluble in alcolhole are usually soluble in vinegar, and are useful for salad vinegars, cosmetic vinegars, some liniments and preventatives sickroom "washes"

Waters
Steeped herbs, water, alcohole and steeped herbs plus honey and other fruits are often called waters. Sometimes exztracts or spirits of various herbs, such as lanvendar, are also called spirits.

ANTHELMINTIC = a medicine that expels worms
APERIANT = gently laxative without purging
AROMATIC = a stimulant, spicy
ASTRINGENT = causes contractions and arrest discharges
ANTIBILIOUS = acts on Bile, relieving billiousness
ANTIEMETIC = stops vometing
ANTILEPTIC = relievs siesures
ANTIPERIODIC = arrests periodic morbid movements
ANTHILIC = prevents formations on stones in the urinary glands
ANTIRHEUMATIC = relieves rheumatism
ANTISCORBUTIC = cures or prevents scurvy
ANTISEPTIC = aims at stopping at putrification
ANTISPASMODIC = relieve or stops spasms
ANTISYPHILITIC = having efect or curing STD's
CARMINITIVE = Expels gas in the bowels
CARTHATIC = evacuating from the bowels
CEPHALIC = Remedies used in diseas of the head
CHOLAGOGUE = Increases flow of bile
CONDIMENT = improves favour of food
