Bruises
Description
Bruises are blotchy, superficial discolourations due to the breaking of capillaries beneath the surface of the skin, with or more commonly without the skin being broken.
Causes
Bruises are caused by injuries, weakened blood vessels, blood cell abnormalities. CAUTION - seek practitioner advice for unusual or persistant bruising and, of course for any serious injuries.

Applied Externally - As a compress or ointment: *Arnica *Calendula *Witch Hazel CAUTION - do not use arnica if there is broken skin!

*Crushed ICE - in a small towel
From minor injuries, rest and cold applications are generally advisable in the first instance; later, alternate applications of hot and cold help speed up recovery.
*Cabbage Poultice - the bruised, fresh outer leaves, with the main stem removed, applied in layers.
Diet
Foods rich is Vitamin C and bioflavonoids such as chilli, capsicum, parsely, cabbage, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, water cress, cauliflower berries, paw paw, spinach, citrus fruit, turnips, mangoes and also buckwheat help the healing process, in effect, healing the bruises.
