Valuing personal freedom and seld-expression, expansive, outgoing Sagittarius are optimistic, outspoken and enjoy travel and sporting activities.
POSITIVE TRAITS
Sagittarians who are natural born extroverts, live life to the full, and are abundant with energy and have a strong sence of fair play, taking great delight in all sorts of sporting activities. They have an outspoken, light hearted attitude, making them popular people, and their above average intellect leads to a great variety of interests and talents. Sagittarians are often drawn to the more intellectual challenging subjects such as law, religion and philosophy.
NEGATIVE TRAITS
The Sagittarian 'bonhomie' can become boisterous in behaviour, and their "jokiness" can degenerate into 'horseplay'. The natural generosity of the Sagittarian can reduce itself to over-extravagance, and the Sagittarians who are extrovert may become braggardly, boastful and arrogant in their ways. An over emphisis to 'personal freedom' can resort to a revolt against society and/or establishment. Mental restlessness needs controlling.
MYTHOLOGY
This sign is always represented by the centaur - the half man, half beast (usually horse) - with a drawn bow. This was later simplified into a three headed arow which was said to represent spiritual aspiration, aiming heavenward to spiritual realms. The Sagittarian myth concerns Chiron who, in Greek mythology, was known as the wise Centaur, a healer, sage and teacher. He was also an excellent hunter and sportsman, who, upon his death was transformed into a constellation on stars by Jupiter.

GEMSTONE - TURQOISE
This stone is a basic aluminium phosphate with a small amount of copper giving it it's distincitve blue/green colour. Originally from Turkey, this gem has been much sought after, in the Aztec civilisation, it held predominance over Gold. Symbolising beauty to the Egyptians, this stone was made into many fine pieces of jewellery. The lotus flower was duplicated from strips of Turquoise. This gem was treasured by the Kings of Persia and were thought to protect riders and horses, and was thought to be a safe guard against the "Evil Eye". It is said that if a person feels at ease with this gemstone, it will serve that person well. In gemstone healing, the turquoise, ideally set in silver, is thought to 'harmonise' the spiritual self.
