Samhain (Northern hemisphere - October 31) (SOuthern Hemisphere - April 30)
Properly known as Halloween. This is the Witches New Year. It is when the veil between the spirit world, and the Physical Plane is at it's weakest, when spirits can come and the leaving spirits can pass in and out. Darkness increases, and the Goddess reigns as the Crone.
Yule (Northern Hemisphere - December 21) (Southern Hemisphere - June 22)
Yule is close to the Christians tradition of Christmas. This Sabbat represents the re-birth of light. Here, on the longest night of the year, the Goddess gives birth to the Sun Child. Yule is a great time for new Goals and forgetting about the past.
Imbolic (Northern Hemisphere - February 2) (Southern Hemisphere - August 2)
At this time, the Sun God is a small child nursing from his mother. New beginnigs are nurtured as Winter is swept away, this can be a good time for initiations into the Craft.
Ostara (Northern Hemisphere - March 20) (SOuthern Hemisphere - September 21)
At this time Spring bursts forth from the bonds of Winter. The Goddess and God are young children at play and holiday festivals use brightly coloured eggs to represent the child in everyone just as the Easter Bunny comes from Pagan religions.
Beltane (Northern Hemisphere - April 30) (Southern Hemisphere - October 31)
May Day (AKA Beltane) is celebrated on the first of May. Beltane honours the fertility of the Earth and the love of the God ad Goddess. You can weave strings around the May-Pole and jump over the Beltane fire for good luck.
Litha (Northern Hemisphere - June 21) (Southern Hemisphere - December 22)
This is the longest day of the year, it is a time of Triumph for the Light. This Holiday represents the sun king and is ruled by the Waxing Year.
Lughnassadh (Northern Hemisphere - August 1) (Southern Hemisphere - January 31)
Honours the Sun God, he gives energy to all things to ensure life while the Goddess once again prepares to go from Mother to Crone. Celebrations of the first fruits of the Harvest. TIme to teach what you have learned and to share you'r achievments.
Mabon (Northern Hemisphere - September 21) (Southern Hemisphere - March 21)
The days and nights are equal. It is a time of Balance. It is the second Harvest. It's of rebirth found in seeds.
