The ancients told that Libra and Scorpio was once a single figure, with Libra envisaged as being held in the claws of Scorpio, and known as the 'claws of the Scorpion'. Greek legends associate Libra with Mochis, inventor of weights and measures. Libra's span also covers the time of weighing the harvest.

GEMSTONE - OPAL
This gemstone is said to be names from the Sanskrit 'upala' or 'precious stone'. Deriving also from the Greek 'ops' meaning 'eye' it was considered unlucky to introduce the opal or 'eye stone' into a house because it interfered with the sanctity of domestic privacy. Thought to be capable of opening up the 'third eye', the opal was used by mystics seeking to enter the 'supernatural realms' The opal shows a great variety of colours and patterns and the opal changes both colour and character with both prevailing light and temperature. The opal is also said to protect areas of the body which emit and are sources of heat.
