Cancer, being the fourth sign of the Zodiac, is the second and 'emotional' half of the Gemini/Cancer positive -negative duo. Fundamentally, Cancer requires emotional security and has a strong mother connectedness with the desire to nurture and nourish. Cancerians are homeloving, intuitive, sensitive and relate happily to the 'caring' professions.
Positive Traits - Affectionate with a kindly good humnour, Cancerians are devoted to home and family, and are loyal to their friends, clinging to failing relationships which would have been abandoned by others. Concern for loved ones may be expressed as fussiness and, if fearful of losing a loved one, Cancer can resort to childish behaviour, becoming possessive and tenaciouly clingy. Kindness may swiftle change to 'crabiness' and a disinclination to discard anything of sentimental value, often leads to a reputation for untidiness!
Mythology of Cancer Cancer is strongly connected with conception and birth. It's glyph is said to represent the male and female seed, the phallic symbol of horozontal 'nines', or the claws of the crab. Cancer has the greatest number of fixed stars within it's arc, and many geniuses have been born when their Sun or Ascent in Cancer with fixed stars prominent. In Roman mythology, Juno set Cancer against hurcules when he fought the Hydra of Lerna. Cancer bit the foot of the hero who straightaway killed it. Juno then placed Cancer in the Heavens, making it one of the twelve Zodiacle Signs.
