Since the beginning of September 1998, Bagpipes & Bodhráns has been bringing the music of the Celts to the people of the Eastern Townships every Saturday morning from 10 until Noon (EST) on CJMQ 88.9 FM. What can one expect when they tune in? Capercaillie, Great Big Sea, The Tannahill Weavers, The Irish Descendants and Dervish - just to name a few! I love exploring all aspects of the Celtic genre from the very traditional (including material in Gaelic, Welsh and Breton) to the latest in Celtic Pop/Rock. In addition, I provide information about Celtic history and culture as well as information about the artists themselves.

If you are a record label or an artist seeking exposure then you have come to the right place. Please feel free to send any promotional material to CJMQ and I would be more than happy to play your stuff on the air. Send all material to:

And how about a wee bit of history now? Celtic music has been gracing the airwaves of CJMQ in one form or another for quite some time but it is only since the summer of 1998 that it has featured every Saturday morning. The show, in its original form, was known as the Celtic Coffee Show and was hosted by Matt and Luc. The first hour featured celtic music, the second featured jazz and the two hosts sampled a different specialty coffee each week.

By the end of August, Matt was no longer able to co-host the program so I was brought in to attempt to fill his shoes (an impossible task, I might add!) I had gotten my start at CJMQ earlier that summer hosting a program called Cultural Relativity that featured folk, world and celtic music.

Due to my intense dislike for coffee and my great passion for Celtic music, Luc and I revamped the show, changing the name to The Celtic Ceilidh (Ceilidh because of the informal music/party aspect to the word and Celtic for all those who aren't familiar with the Gaelic word) and playing exclusively music from the Celtic world. Sadly, Luc was unable to remain with the show and by the third week of September I was joined by my good friend A.G. Klei.

Since April, 1999, I've been flying solo as A.G. decided to pursue his own musical interests as a DJ at CJMQ. In May, 2000 I changed the name of the show to Bagpipes & Bodhráns, having long since tired of a show name I didn't particularily like. The show's format, however, remains unchanged. As of February 14, 2001, the show can be heard LIVE on CJMQ 88.9FM on Real Audio... just check out www.cjmq.uni.cc
